Can one strain of Bermuda grass overtake another?

I have two kinds of Bermuda in my yard, one that is thick and lush, the other much thinner and less dense. I wonder if one can overgrow the other.

    Yes. The stronger variety will always invade the weaker.

    If you want to speed it up, pull up some of the thick and lush bermuda runners and plant it in the middle of the thinner stuff
