How can I stop coughing from allergies?
For the past few months, I have been coughing. At first, I thought I just had cough, but I went to see my doctor and he told me I had allergies. Ive tried dusting my room, and it seemed to help, but I still cough on and off.
Also, my doctor told me to use a Humidifier. I was wondering if that was a good idea to use a humidifier? And by seeing all the answers related to coughing from allergies, I see there are a lot of home remedies that involve honey and/or lemon. So can I just buy any ordinary honey from a local market?

Allergies are sort of specific. If you were not allergic to the dust or only mildly allergic, dusting will only help to a certain extent. This time of year allergies have lots to do with pollen, ripening of seeds and grains, harvesting, hay mowing, etc. and if you are allergic to these things, dusting will help, but not much. The other thing is to make sure your windows are closed in your room to prevent pollens and weed dusts from entering in the first place.
Taking honey as a cough remedy helps really well with coughs from colds but it may not work as well with allergy coughs. Some people use honey as a desensitizer to allergies in general though. Here is a link explaining.

It makes perfect sense as it works the same as allergy shots do.
Also, you could just take an allergy medication. There are a couple over the counter ones that used to be prescription only that work very well and are not too expensive. I have use the generic version of Claritin with excellent results as well as the generic version of Zyrtec. both generics are available at Walmart in generic form and work as well.
I used to Claritin for years but it stopped working for me and when I visited the doctor, she recommended Singulair but it costs over $130 for a months supply. I tried generic Zyrtec instead to the tune of $20 for a months supply and it works great. I don't even need the whole tablet so I break them in half and I have had very few problems since then. Claritin and Zyrtec have different formulas so work against different allergies.
If you do get a humidifier, clean it religiously as any molds growing in it will make allergies worse too.
I personally cannot use scented candles and air fresheners. I got one of those that squirts freshener every 30 minutes or so and darn near sneezed my brains out from it. Scented candles make me cough. The air fresheners make my ears itch, eyes run and nose itch.
Good luck. allergies suck!

Take an anti-histamine drug if you have severe allergies or if you expect that you are allergic to something that you will do or eat. Maybe you have asthma which is basically inherited from your parents and is triggered by certain allergens in the environment. If you do have asthma, take some bronchodilators or SABA's.
