Why do evangelicals love the US so much?
There is nothing wrong with being patriotic and having faith--- but I'm wondering why these two things are so often combined in the same people.

A question based in a US perspective. I think you will find evangelicals dedicated to most of the countries they inhabit.

Countries around the world have celebrations and display their countries flags with honor.
It is not only the evangelicals that are proud of the US but you will be harrassed as a "flag waiver" if you say anything positive about our country. In fact, if you are not constantly putting down the US and the military, you are not cool.
I think the evangelicals don't care what other's say and are taught a strong appreciation for those that have given their lives for our freedom.

They are not patriotic they are cowards passing laws so homosexuals can't get married or can't adopt kids is not patriotic saying are founding fathers were all christians when only a small few of them were burning books because they don't have their god in it like Harry Potter and last but not least trying to rape the constitution so it fits their little agenda in my opinion they are not even americans.
edit:2 thumbs down only proves my point i love this country more then any fundie and i am an atheist man i see muslims love are country more then fundie's do.

Liberty and the Lord God are the two greatest noble causes and loves of my life. There is nothing more important on this Earth than that.

this country was built on christians values. Many of the original framers we're christians. America is often synonymous with christianity itself. That's not to say that this fact hasn't been downplayed in recent years, but a large majority of america is still christian. (I'm not saying america isn't a "tossed salad" of various religions or beliefs, simply that a lot of Christians like to embrace their countries christian roots. Unfortunately, this seems to have also paved the way for fast food religion, where a person's religious affiliation is about as important as their eye color.

I don't see a source as the basis for your statement.
I have observed no difference in patriotism between the religious and non-religious people I know.
Until you post a source, you are stating an unverified opinion that I do not believe to be true.

It's a common misconception, fueled by the radical conservative spin machine, that only conservatives can be patriotic. Most evangelicals are also conservatives.
Many liberals are patriotic enough to call the government on their wrong doing, instead of just blindly accepting it. For this they often are labeled as non-patriotic.
Voltaire once wrote: it is dangerous to be right when your government is wrong.

if by "love" you mean turn the united states into a theocracy and make christianity have more power then all other creeds then you don't know what the united states is.

I believe it is because we value our God given freedom, and it is our responsibility to fight for that freedom.
America is the greatest nation in the World. I personally am proud to be part of it.
