Does anyone have evidence that corruption in ACORN was more than a handful of employees?

According to their website, ACORN has 400,000 members.

In 2008, 11 employees were suspected of turning in false voter registration cards to up their commission they get for registering voters.

In 2009, 4 employees were caught on hidden camera giving advice on how to get around the law in an underage prostitution ring. Pretty sick stuff.

Now, everyone on here should know I am very non-partisan. I usually vote Democrat, but refuse to align myself with Democrats I do not agree with. I have no party affiliation, and therefore no feelings of attachment to the group ACORN. Given evidence that they are a corrupt orginization, i would gladly jump on the "get rid of them" bandwagon.

So, where is it? I count 15 corrupt employees. Far from a "complete corruption" for an orginization that has 400,000 members and employs 13,000 people. So here's your chance: give me a reason to believe ACORN is a corrupt orginization. All i need is evidence.

But I won't get it. I've done this before for other issues. I'll get people calling me dumb, and calling me an Obamabot. They'll say I'm ignoring reality, without giving me the evidence they claim i am ignoring. This is what we have to deal with today: Someone wants you to believe something, criticizes you for not believing it, but then gives you no reason at all to believe it.

So here's your chance guys. Show me the beef!

Update:

And Mopar Mike answers with, as usual, a complete lack of evidence,.

Lets see: Worrkers in several different states using identical techniques to violate the voter registration laws.

Repeated offenses with no eveidence that Acorn has ever done anything to prevent them.

BTW - prior to the las election I stopped at an Acorn voter registration booth. Every single voter registration card they had was already filled out as 'Democrat' and they refused to give me a registration card that was not for the Democrat party.

Can you explain to me why an organization that only registers voters for one political party should be getting federal funding?

I was more upset that young girls would be brought into the country to be demoralized and used than anything else and there was not one person looking out for the children in a organization that is there to help the poor.We don't really know if there are a hand full of employees out of hundreds. It should be investigated by the I.R.S. to see where the public tax dollars go.As with anything if the organization gets too big to supervise there are problems.Viewing the tapes I thought that the persons working there were too easy even listening to that garbage.Come on any decent person would have thrown them out of their office. Just to accept young girls becoming hookers is o.k.with them? Is this why there is so much support for illegal immigrants so they can be exploited for wrongful gain. This is supposed to be for the poor to buy homes not for crime.I think the people show in the tapes there were once part of the prison system and got jobs there.Even if the ACORN organizations does good it is now tarnished forever and the right thing to do is open up for investigation and get back on a proper path.If there is a bias to one party or another it has to stop for the sake of the poor. Now we see why many loans went into default because the applicants were fudging there applications with the help of Acorn employees. This is a organization that uses the poor and calls it helping the poor for their own political gain..A Supreme form of racism if there is any. The Teabag Protests are about the waste of money and go of their own accord many voted for the President. They aren't using tax payers money.People take the opportunity to protest other things like it or not it's freedom of speech like burning a American Flag,I don't like it either but it is freedom of speech.

When police investigate a crime scene, do they just detain those who it's immediately recognizable committed a crime ? Or detain everyone at the scene ? You don't go on with business as usual becuase there are only a few immediately recognizable as criminally at fault, so your reasoning is absurd Kevin. Their is reasonable cause to shut them down and stop funding until further probing can be conducted, besides, it's not like Acorn is an organization that provides necessities of life this country can't do without. Also, I don't know where you get you information, but since Acorn first came into the lime light, there has been more than just a handful of their employee's investigated and convicted for corruption . God bless.

There were a few more tapes released with maybe six others. I do see where you are coming from.

However, most of the people who are crying out against ACORN "officially" (not the people who just hate Obama because they need someone to hate and ACORN is a natural target for) aren't asking the Administration to shut down ACORN. They are simply asking that the organization be investigated. I don't really think that's too much to ask.

I think it was the late eightees, early ninetees (but don't quote me I could be off) when it turne dout there was a number of police officers taking cuts from crimes of various types in order to "turn a blind eye". It wasn't an overwhelming number but it was wide enough spread that it began an investigation.

This is relatively proper in reaction. Those who cry "Evil organization! Shut it down!" are having a knee-jerk reaction. I don't, however, think its too much to askf or it to be investigated and for the media to actually do their jobs and uncover these stories more than college students do.

Source(s): Edit: Personally I'm jaded enough to think an investigation by a corrupt government into a possibly corrupt organization is kind of pointless but hey, that's just me.

I know they are responsible for a lot more happiness than deceit...So was Sanford...and Palin...The thing about them. Is that our government has become so ineffective in truly helping the needy...Not just giving them assistance but Caring about the needs they face every day, not just a check but a future...That the job of HUD and others has been taken over by ACORN is just one example of the bureaucratic laziness that separates All Americans from our elected officials. Even ACORN is doing what a bumbling bureaucracy has historically done...they are not forcing change in the field of play such as Advising against Adjustable Rate Mortgages...Creating Job programs...Teaching by their actions the way to success. I agree a few are suspect...But the premise of access they have enjoyed to date has been squandered by an intent that is corrosively damaging to a successful outcome.

I don't think they are finished releasing the videos yet. So I'm sure there will be more. If their were this many people doing corrupt things at another business, I would be concerned. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY STAND TO GET 8.5 BILLION DOLLARS FROM STIMULUS MONEY. Any bussiness that has, it doesn't matter how many members, just so happens you have counted 15, when there are 15 people, all at different business across America saying they will help and support illegal child prostitution rings and tell about how you can cheat your taxes, that bothers me. It's not just one or two at the same place, THEY ARE ALL OVER AMERICA AT DIFFERENT PLACES!

How about the 30 Acorn members recently not accused, but convicted of crimes...How about the vote to defund them, even democrats voted for. Democrats are corruption, I'm in Louisiana and can tell you first hand about it, ever heard of Edwin Edwards?

You are right, of course. ACORN is being shamelessly hounded by that racist Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and Shan Hannity, and the list goes one and on.

ALL of us associated with ACORN know they are just a wonderful organization that works tirelessly to help the poor and downtrodden.

You don't think I'm a racist because I said that, do you?

    haven't seen it yet.

Similarly, neither Bush, Cheney nor Halliburton/KBR execs are responsible for the despicable actions of a few Halliburton/KBR employees who gang-raped a female employee in Iraq.

The gov. has also quickly and decisively stopped all funding to ACORN and kicked them off the census program.
