How do you survive morning sickness and a toddler?

I am currently 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with #2, and my first dd is 18 months old. While my nausea this time around is not as bad as the first time, there are still moments when all I can do is RUN to the bathroom. I am keeping little to nothing down, and therefore have little to no energy. My daughter wants constant attention, and when I am home alone with her, I feel like I am neglecting her a little. (Even getting her dinner makes me queasy...so it has been easy stuff the last couple of nights). I am also a full-time junior high teacher, so that is where most of my energy does go.

Any suggestions from others in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

pre-make some meals for both you and your daughter on the weekends and freeze them in meal size portions so all you need to is reheat and serve.

Soups with grated ginger in them are good for nausea.

pre-make same-day-meals when you are feeling well - e.g pack a lunch box of salads and sandwiches in the morning for you both to eat for dinner that night.

Serve easy meals that don't make you feel sick - things like : fruit salad and yogurt, sandwiches, pasta and sauce, potato salad.

as for the energy - its natural to be short of energy at this stage of pregnancy, spend A LOT of time resting. You daughter and you can have reading time on the floor (or bed) or watch movies. Or you can give her dress ups (your clothes and shoes) and you can lay on the floor and take photos of her. Whatever you do, do it slowly and rest as much as you can.

Crackers and ginger ale are best for morning sickness. Make sure you're taking your prenatal vitamins too. The first few months are always a struggle. Add in another child and its nearly impossible. Just dont aim for perfection. Feed your daughter pb&j and watch some movies together.

Talk to your doctor about getting you on meds. for that. They make them now that are safe and WILL NOT harm you baby in anyway. If you don't feel comfortable doing that then, try drinking zup or sprite. Good luck
