Nothing wrong with such a strategy. The relationship between U.S. and Vietnam is improving. Some western corporates even make Vietnam as a competitor against India in their investment.
The former general in Vietnam red arm did support McCain in his election.

war is good business if managed right it keeps the economy going for the rich, just think about it most people in the government has there hands in oil or weapons and that's what fuels a war, and then the men sent away to fight , there jobs have to be filled so u see it keeps people working, all that Equipment that is lost or wore out has to be replaced its a vicious circle, what is a better way to create 25 or 30 thousand jobs, than send that many men and women to another country, think about this, the reason we left Vietnam was if we had stayed and won then we would have had millions of people to care for, they milked it for all its worth and let them have it back, at the expense of all those young men, people like that need run out of office

The funniest bit about Vietnam is hearing idiots claim it was a tie. I'm sure the Vietcong thought the same thing as they laughed at the last helicopters struggling to lift off the US embassy roof.

Obama dose what he is told . Those running the show want the war in Afghanistan . It is about control of money and natural resources they desire .
