Sores in front of cats ears.?

She has no signs of ear mites, in fact her ears are spotless and pristine. She is not itching them like crazy, and is not shaking her head.

I sleep odd hours, so can keep an eye on her very well when she's awake, and she never seems to scratch them, but I've seen the sores, and she has dried blood caked in front of her ears.

Does any one have an idea as to what it may be? It doesn't seem to bother her. I plan on calling the vet for an appointment next week for her. She's had them for a few months now, they don't seem to get worse, and they don't get better.

I Know it's Not Ear Mites. Her ears are perfectly clean.

Update:

No fleas either.

That is a classic symptom of ear scratching. The cat scratches his ears with his hind legs and the claws produce scratches directly in front of the ears.

He may be parasite free, but suffering from something as simple as ear wax. My Maine Coon had a minor wax problem and needed her ears cleaned with a cotton ball and warm water every week.

Whatever the cause is, it's not too serious, so no need for worry. The vet will help you out.

Oh poor kitty I'm sure she has an overall problem not just all these separate things - she could have a metabolic disorder? i don't know any specific website but try google something like 'cat natural health' it might give you some insight into why all these things are coming up so suddenly

It may be an allergic reaction to food, household cleaning products, pollen or a plant in the garden. My cat has an allergy to something and it makes him scratch his ears, around his mouth until it is raw and bleeding. Take her to a vet for a cortisone shot and advice and you may need to change her diet.

My cat sometimes cuts himself there with his own claws when he scratches. Could it be that? It doesn't seem to bother him so I just leave it. But it's not there permanently - just every now and again.
