How would you handle a situation like this?

My son came home from school with a big bruise on his shoulder blade and when I asked him how he got it he said he didn't remember so I emailed the teacher is there anything else I should do? I do have pictures so I could email them or take them to the principle but I just don't know how to handle this since my son can't remember how it happened. Thanks for your answers.

Update:

So the teacher talked to him and he told her he got hit by a football in P.E. But the teacher was willing to send him to the nurse. But all last year he was hit and bite by a boy so I was just making sure that wasn't what happened again.

It is possible that he just doesn't remember. I know from last year playing on a softball team and finding bruises on myself and wondering, how did that happen? Another possibility is that he isn't telling you the whole story. I have 2 boys - 6 and 10 yrs old, and I've had this happen before. I find a bruise and ask, "How did that happen", and have gotten the same response. I contacted the school, and sure enough he and his friend were throwing rocks at each other. I'm assuming he didn't want to get into trouble. Try talking to him first and let him know he isnt in any trouble, and that you care, and you just want to talk to him. If he is telling the truth you'll know.

    Good Luck :)

Just another playing accident, Both my older boys have a bruise some where most of the time, even the little one 2 has a couple, If he cannot remember, then it obviously wasnt worth remembering. we used to show each other our bruises when I was a child (sort of badge of rank) the more you had gave you a better standing with my friends (odd thinking back, but who knows what goes through those young minds)

I was kicked by a horse you could see the shape of the shoe, that was impressive, especially when it started to change colour.

Sorry went on a bit, maybe have a chat with the teacher, and see if there was a problem, I dont think its worth pushing.

Witch hazel is good for bruises, just rub it on.

My 10 year old has a ton of bruises on him. He can't tell me where they came from. I get bruises I don't know where they come from either. It could have been something as simple as clipping the corner of the wall when he was walking. I bet the teacher don't know either.

He could have been playing with his friends. There are tons of ways to get bruises and you just don't think they would cause a bruise. Have you never had a mystery bruise?

kids get bruises all the time, if he cant remember what happened i doubt anything sinister happened. i would tell your teacher that he has come home from school with a big bruise and could she keep an eye on him.
