I reserved hotel room online with my credit card - will I need the actual card at the hotel?

I know this is sort of crazy but it's where I am. I cut up my credit card because I intended to pay it off. But then I needed to go out of town and I want to put the charges on my card so I made the reservation online using my card's number from an old bill. The card is still valid, I just don't have the actual plastic. Will I need to produce the card at the hotel to check in or out? I'm leaving in less than two days so I don't have time to get a new card from the company.

As soon as you go to check in they are going to ask for your card so they can swipe it.

You can either pay cash, use a debit card or call your credit card company and see if they will overnight you a new one.

If all else fails call the hotel and see what they suggest.

You've reserved your hotels using a debit card so the answer is obviously yes. The deposits have gone through and you've had confirmation. The systems the booking companies use online instantly know if your card is a debit card or a credit card. If a debit card wasn't acceptable it would have been rejected at that point. Hotels will say they don't accept debit cards because they like to have a credit card to pre-authorise your spending at the hotel, for stuff like drinks and room service. If you just tell them you'll pay cash for that stuff they won't have a problem. Put it this way. If you get to the hotel and all you have is a debit card, they're not going to turn you away.

If you have a debit card or another credit card you can use this when you check in. I travel a lot for business and I do it all the time. Just tell them you want to use a different card than the one you made the reservation with. Of course, if you use a debit card it will have to be one with the Visa or Mastercard logo. A simple check card won't satisfy the hotel.

yes they will want to swipe card at check in. call front desk and ask what can be done.

or use debit card. seems like you caved in on using credit card pretty fast.
