It mostly depends on your job.

If you are Infantry, you go to Ft. Benning, Georgia.

If you are Armor, for now you go to Ft. Knox, Ky, but they are moving eventually to Ft. Benning.

If you are Artillery, you go to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.

If you are Engineer, Military Police or Chemical, you go to Ft. Leonard Wood.

The above jobs all do a combined Basic Training and AIT at one location.

All other MOS mean you will go to a 9-Week Basic Training and then a second Advance Individual Training. 9-Week Basic Training have several places you can go but in order by numbers of of people they train, Ft. Jackson SC, Ft. Leonard Wood MO, Ft. Sill OK, Ft. Knox KY, Ft. Benning GA.

AITs for the other jobs are spread out all over. The main ones are Ft. Sam Houston for medical jobs, Ft. Hauchuka AZ for intellegence, Virgina has several small forts that do Admin and supply job training goes to mainly Ft. Jackson SC. Communications go to Ft. Gordon GA. Those are the main ones anyway.

Where you live has nothing to do with it. Its all based on MOS and AIT training slots. The softer your MOS the softer the basic training base...(i.e. helicopter mechanic = Ft. Jackson.) Unless of course there aren't enough training slots available to line you up with training slots at AIT. Then they put you were the basic slots are. So it could be anywhere, unless you ask for one specifically and are willing to wait for an opening.

We hold basic training in 5 places:

    fort benning, ga

    fort sill, ok

    fort leonard wood, mo

    fort jackson, sc

    and fort knox, ky

the base you go to is decided on your sex and when you ship. no way to tell at all. it all comes down to what training seat (your bunk) is available at the time you're leaving. it's actually depending on when your AIT starts. from there, we back it up 10-11 weeks and look for basic training. you have a 20% chance of fort knox :)

you would probably be stationed in Norfolk. depends on which branch you are enlisted in. Navy is in VA Beach and Norfolk. Marines are in NC and Airforce is in texas. i don't know about coast gaurd. There is a big training facility for Army in SC. but i am not sure about army either.

    this is all east coast.

Where you live has little to do with were you will go for bct. It depends on two main things:

    1. open training slots

    2. your mos

It just depends on where they have room for you not on your location. Sometimes they send people to certain bases for their jobs even though they don'tt learn about their job or do their job until at AIT.
