What Major League Baseball record do you think will never be broken?

I say Cal Ripkens' most consecutive games played.

There's a lot of favorite choices, some glaringly obvious and others not so that the true fans know and understand and represent in earnest.

I prefer further to look to records no one would WANT to break.

    Ryan's 2795 career walks.

Park's two grand slams yielded in one inning to one batter.

Rose's 10 thousand-plus outs made (which he holds by a huge margin over the #2 guy).

These marks will stand for extremely long times.

There are two records that will never be broken, cal ripken's record of 2,632 consecutive games played and cy young's 511 wins. Cal ripken's record will never be broken because that's insane, most players don't even play every game in a season. Cy young's record will never be broken becuase baseball today is a hitters game, it's mostly offense. With all the steroids and performance enhancing. And that pitchers only start about every 5th day, 20 wins is a really good year. That means a pitcher would have to win about 20 games every season for about 25 seasons, not happening.

    Cy Youngs 511 wins,

    Walter Johnsons 110 lifetime shutouts.

    Sam Crawfords 309 triples

    Tris Speakers 792 doubles

Hack Wilsons 191 RBIs in 1930

and Chief Wilsons 36 triples in a season

    Take your pick

No one will break Cy Young's 511 career wins.

With pitch counts and starting only every 5 or 6 days, this is virtually impossible to break. A pitcher starts about 30 games a year if they are lucky enough to not get injured. Then they would have to keep their pitch counts low for all 30 starts and win each one. Finally they would have to do this for 17 year to get to 510 wins.

Dwight Evans: earliest home run in a season. Evans hit the first pitch of the 1986 season out of the yard. A record that can only be equalled and never surpassed.

Bob Feller: earliest no-hitter in a season. Feller threw an opening day no hitter in 1940. Another one that can only be equaled.

And of the records you actually meant, Cy Young's 511 wins.

I agree, Cal Ripken will never be touched. Manager these days want to protect their players from injury so are always giving players days off.

    Cy Young wins

I'm not sure about who owns the reocrd but most starts Cy has 900+ that is 40 starts a year for 22+ years running!

    VandenMeers back to back no-no's.

A bunch of quirky records have been listed.

  • Cy Young's 511 career wins. When Randy Johnson got his 300th win, it was said that this would be the last 300 winner. Nowadays, players cheating such as using steroids the strength is at it's highest. The workout machinery is complex and players have a lot of power.

Joe Dimmagio's 56 game hitting streak.

The closest is 44 games in a row. And that was Pete Rose. Nobody will do that again.

    Honorable Mention:

    Cy Young's 511 wins.

Hack Wilson's 190 RBI's. That's impossible, even for Albert Pujols.
