Can the Christians folks explain a few things for me?

I just have a few questions about the Christian religion.

1) Where do dinosaurs fit into the Bible's description of how man came about?

2) What parts of the Bible are supposed to be taken literally and which ones aren't?

3) If a truly good person does not believe in God, why do you think they deserve to go to hell?

These are very good questions. Unfortunately they are usually asked in an attempt to stump the professor and not in a genuine attempt to understand Christianity or know the truth.

Dinosaurs are pre-Genisis so skipped over. The Bible is about God's relationship with the human race. There were no dinosaurs when human race appeared, so no mention is needed. That was all just prep-work before humans.

It's all figurative and allegorical, but based on actual events. God did not create the heavens and the earth in 7 24 hr periods. Seven days means he took a complete amount of time needed to achieve perfection. Creation is God's masterpiece. It isn't random and it isn't junk. Creation is sweet perfection. God is an absolute genius.

Revelation is a political cartoon. George Bush was drawn with his head on a duck's body. The artist was representing an ineffective presidency, not trying to predict George Bush would turn into a duck.

Good people don't go to hell, unless they used to be bad people. If the bad outweighs the good, they go to hell no matter how they turned out. That is not true for Christians. For Christians the past is forgiven and it only matters how they ended up.

First off I'm not Christian but I have some thoughts on this.

The story of creation and Adam and Eve seems to be the tale of the beginning of history. Everything was created and there was a unity between masculine and feminine energies. Then there was a split and the feminine was lost and with it went paradise. The only place I see Dino's fitting into the Christian tale of creation is if they were present in Eden.

I'm pretty sure the whole bible should be taken as metaphor, it is a book of myths just like the myths of the Greek gods.

No person deserves to go to hell, regardless of their actions. People who have had NDE's and have experienced a hellish dimension seem to mostly say this. If a person has love for humanity they would not wish such negativity upon a brother or sister of the earth.

) Where do dinosaurs fit into the Bible's description of how man came about? Dinosaurs died out in the flood, the devil buried land over their bones to test the faith

    2) What parts of the Bible are supposed to be taken literally and which ones aren't? All of it is literal, it was written by god!

    3) If a truly good person does not believe in God, why do you think they deserve to go to hell? Yes, anyone who isn't a decent white American Christian will end up in hell. It isn't a matter of deserve,it is a matter who god wants in heaven!

    “Dinosaur” Names, Then and Now

Name and date first written in the Bible Scientific Name (best estimate) and date the name appeared

tanniyn (dragon) before 1400 BC dinosaur 1841 AD

behemoth before 1400 BC brachiosaurus 1903 AD

Leviathan before 1400 BC kronosaurus 1901 AD

In order to know that answer you have to learn what each passage refers too. A knowledge of customs of the time helps.H

It is not for me to say they will go to hell. However the bible says that if you are not for God you are against him.

They talk about dinosaurs in the book of Job. If you want to know what parts to apply to life today Read the new testament. No one is ever completely good because we have all lied or done some sin so the only one who can pay for our sins is Jesus Christ who never sinned . Jesus Christ is the payment for our sins if you don't trust him then you reject the only way of salvation. God makes the rules. Sin came to the world because Adam and Eve trusted the serpent instead of God we get saved when we believe in Jesus Christ and what he did on the cross

thank you for linking to the video. i admire the reactions to Mithras. that's historic actuality that as Christians overtook lands and interjected their faith...in addition they used pagan symbols, practices, and geared up church homes on sacred pagan grounds in an attempt to assist convert the peoples of the land. The took Rome, why would not they be consistend and "borrow" some pagan practices. And to the answerer whom asked if Mithras rose from the ineffective....the pagan romans beleived Mithras died and rose 3 days later. i might bypass as a practise on a thank you to argue that Mithras and Jesus have been one interior an identical, yet christians used the call Jesus via fact it replace into widely basic of their geographical section (interior the beginning up until eventually now spreading out). that's all approximately concept. **Divider of actuality, some pagan traditions predated theJewish, some civilizations are as old as 4000 years. Is it possible pagans borrowed from the Jews..specific. All religions borrow from others...that's how they stay to inform the tale.**

1...dinosaurs do not fit. That is why they were not on the ark.

2...literal parts are ones non-belivers try to twist

3... They do not deserve going to hell, they earn it.

I love questions for kids. More young people should ask and answer them.

Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, it will explain these questions you have.

However the answer to the third questions is, even if the person is a "good person" if they knowingly reject the Faith, that is in Jesus, they cannot go to heaven because you are assuming their good will undo their bad. Nobody is perfect but God.

However if a person does not know God, never had the opportunity to learn about God, and IS searching for God, I think this is an exception.

I will answer #3 cuz that's pretty important. Romans 3:23 "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - this means that every person has sinned and is not righteous in God's eyes. Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" - this means that the price of sin is death, we all deserve death for our sins, that is eternal death in hell. The only way to heaven is if we were perfect, but we aren't so we need a sacrafice for our sins in order to get into heaven. But God had mercy on us and instead of sending us all to hell, he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we could go to heaven. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave he one and only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." That means if you accept Jesus as your personal savior you can enjoy God's gift of grace and go to heaven. If you want to ask any more questions email me.

    1) It confuses me to be honest, but I still believe the dinosaurs existed.

    2) The Old Testament is mostly taken contextually, and New Testament is taken mostly literally.

    3) I don't. In fact, the Bible says people go to heaven according to the faith and actions. A Christian that does not do good works would probably not enter heaven. A Jew that does good works, gives to charity, and obeys his/her parents, would go to heaven.
