can you un-shrink a wool sweater?

I washed and dryed (by accident) a wool sweater, and it shrunk up tiny. If possible is there any way to un-shrink this item? any tips would be helpful!

i heard soaking it in cold water and streching it out will bring it back? is this true? or iron it out will bring it back (i dont see how) ....??

    No, it isn't. It is possible to make it into a handbag or something like that, but the process of felting is not reversible, sorry to say. The tiny scales that are on the wool fibers catch on each other and then permanently lock in place, which is why they always say to handwash, which you know since you said it was an accident. I am always looking for this sort of material for my crafts, I would say post it on your local freecycle and at least make a crafter happy.

    you have killed it, it mandatory to be washed via hand in cool water and no scrubbing action and dry laying on a white towel, wool fibers lock at the same time in the event that they are warm or agetated in any respect, it truly is the technique of felting. people dont look to pay any interest to cleansing classes.

    yes soaking it in cold water will help, also laying it flat and stretching it back out while it is wet should work. do not try to iron it!
