Buying a used minivan, should we buy an '05 Odyssey with 70k miles, or an '08 sedona w/40k miles?
The odyssey is 13,995, the sedona is 13,050...
Correction, the Sedona is 13,340
I never thought about the engine on the sedona taking more stress, as it's already driven 40k in just a year.
i did check KBB, excellent condition 05 Odyssey EX is over $18k, i think i'm getting a good deal...
i'm going to check out the odyssey tonight...if it's in good shape, i'll probably buy it!

I would go for the Honda. I have an Odyssey 2001 and have never had any problems with it. Go to kbb.com and check the value to make sure it is priced right before you buy. Good luck.

The Odyssey should be the better quality car, although the price is a little high. I would try and bargain it down a bit. The Honda has also been used less on average travelling about 17500 miles a year where the Sedona has racked up 40000 miles in one year. In that regard, although it is older, the Odyssey's engine should be less stressed of the two.
I think if you do a search you should find that owners are experiencing less problems with the Odyssey than they are with Sedona's.
There is not much point to a warranty if your car is always in for repairs. I'd rather have a reliable car even without warranty than an unreliable car with a warranty.
Why is the owner of the Sedona flicking it after just one year? Check the service history of both cars before making your final decision.

My choice would be the Odyssey. Being an older vehicle, your insurance will be cheaper, as will the registration. Hondas are known for reliability and high mileage is not a problem. Probably no warranty on it though. The 08 should have a warranty. I'd suggest doing a google search on "05 odyssey problems" and on "08 sedona problems" and see which one has more common problems. Hope that helps.

The sedona seems to come out on top. Newer, less miles and cost less. Most likely, may have better warranty because it is newer too?
Any brand of car can be good or bad. There are good cars and bad cars from all makes and models.
One of the best things you can do is check with carFax and make sure that they were not in any major accidents. Accidents impact a cars ability forever. Even when they are fixed, they are never EVER the same, and normally have problems that are ongoing.
There is a fee for carFax, but it is a small price, and well worth it when you are ready to buy a car.

the Odyssey is priced a little to high but the Sedona is made in Korea and I have had to kias and they are not worth a crap.

Honda is wayyy more reliable than a piece of garbage Kia, plus in the future it will be worth way more than Kia see how well the Honda holds its price? its 4 yrs old with 70k miles and its still worth as much as a 1 year old Kia with 40k miles

mileage means little as to what shape a car is in you check for shape not miles
type into search box
how to check used car
gets a checklist to help one look for signs of problems
to learn more about any car yuo can type into search box
like 2005 Odyssey problems
and that brings up whats been said about problems you can do that with any car also its not the mileage you go by its shape so check shape look fore signs of problems search about info on which is better or what problems any car might have

No contest. get the Honda. Find ten of them and then start comparing. You have to look at more tha just two cars before you buy one. Hondas are better. Just look at Hondas.
