People tend to pledge to the flag in the same way they pray to their god. It certainly can look like idolatry.

before everything, we are no longer worshipping the flag, we are "pledging our allegiance to it" and in doing so honoring God besides. (one call, under God) the rustic unquestionably acknowledges flag burning as a misery sign, and the majority are afflicted my it purely because of the fact they see it as dishonor/disrespect to the US, although, in the event that they knew the real intentions by way of the flag burner, they might even have comparable ideals. we don't desire crosses to coach faith, it fairly is purely a logo that has been around for an prolonged time that reminds human beings of what they suspect in. No, they do no longer "create" a jealous God. God claims to be jealous whilst others are positioned earlier him.

When you pledge to the flag you are actually pledging to the fifty states (stars) and the people that make up those states, hence "and to the republic for which it stands."
It's not flag worship IMO.

The flag is a symbol of a country and the pledge is simply showing your allegiance to that country. It is not worship nor is it agreeing with the government.

I love my country, but it doesn't have my unwavering allegiance.
Patriotism is good, nationalism is dangerous.
If my country morphs into something else, i won't support it just because its called the USA.
My allegiance lies with my species. Hence my charitable work in attempting to educate people.

I hate the pledge.

Paying honor to the American flag is not worshiping the flag. We honor it because it symbolizes what America does/should stand for. We have to remember that for those of us who believe in God, the line "One nation under God" shows that this country and the flag is to be under the leadership of our God, so it is not worshiping the flag.

The Jehovah's Witnesses believe that, I think.

Loving where you live is awesome, but I think it's absurd to pledge allegience to a flag. Or worse, a government.
