Spiritually speaking, graduating from high school...?

I graduated from high school yesterday, so yay.

What are your memories associated with graduating from high school?

And for those who haven't graduated yet, or are graduating soon, are you looking forward to finishing school or do you think you will miss it?

Thanks for answering!

Update:

No Desiree, I'm 18, haha. :)

I remember, as I received my diploma, the principal shaking my hand and saying, "Congratulations! You made it!"

To which I replied, "F*ck you, man -- like there was ever any doubt!"

    You graduated yesterday? Congratulations, Ethan!

I haven't graduated yet, but I am kind of looking forward to finishing school, although I know I'll just be going back to school after. I know that I'll definitely miss high school, I made so many good friends here. And also, I'll be graduating with (mostly) the same group of kids that I started high school with. At my school they do this thing like homeroom, but you're with the same kids for all 4 years (apart from, of course, ones that move away or move into the class), so it will definitely be sad leaving them.

Congratulations. I have good memories from graduation. I spent the day with my closest five friends and our families. We went to dinner and then my family came over to our house and my parents gave me a camcorder and some money. The next morning my friends and I left for Myrtle Beach for our first week-long vacation without our parents. It was truly a great time in my life. I was so happy to be done with high school. I hated that place. To this day I do not miss it one bit! Hard to believe it's been almost ten years. *shudder*

I graduated early in 2003 and I personally did not go back to walk the stage. I felt thankful to be done with the over dramatized social hours of what they call "High School". Honestly I don't miss it at all. I never want to go back (high school was fun but very over rated) and every time I run into all my old "popular" friends its at a bar and guess what??? Their still living the dream! LOL... Oh how I love college!!

Congrats Ethan! Good luck with wherever you go from here!

As for graduating, I think I'll have mixed feelings about it. On the positive end, I'll finally be leaving home and going to college (hopefully). Then I can get my degrees and pursue a career.

On the other hand, I don't want to go. I really like my school, and I like the people that I go to it with. College generally means separation from your friends, which is something I'm definitely not looking forwards to.

    Congratulations! Woo!

I actually didn't like my graduation day. It was supposed to be a chance for my parents to meet my boyfriends' family (mine are a bit traditional so getting to know his parents would've made it easier for us to plan hangouts).

On that day, the teachers and other staff told us not to bring our cellphones with us during the ceremony. Of course, not many followed that rule. As long as we kept them hidden and silent, it was fine. We both agreed we would have our parents would meet that day, but didn't specify where so I tried calling him. However, of all his years in high school, he decided graduation day was the day he was going to follow the rules so he left his phone in his car.

The place where they held the ceremony was huge and looking for him wasn't an option, especially since the staff kept telling us to move. I kept calling, but no answer. I couldn't stall forever so my family and I left to go eat. I didn't even see my boyfriend that day. I cried for half an hour after the ceremony.

It wasn't until later that evening I got hold of him and asked what happened. He told me and I was pretty ticked. Our families meeting that day was his idea (-_-).

Anyway! The ceremony itself wasn't something I remember. My hat came off and I wasn't popular enough to hear cheering from the audience when my name came up. That's about it.

Dude you scare me. going by your x-file picture and the way you answer question here ( good might I add ) I had you as being at least 30 and what a master degree...so either I'm totally naive and dumb or you just graduated from high school on the first day of October or the last day of september and 2 days before my cat's birthday

It was interesting to wake up the next morning and realize it was really over.

When you get out into the workforce (if that's where you're headed) you find you're now one of the "grown-ups". The petty stuff you dealt with in school is no longer there. Granted, there are new challenges, but you're interacting with others on a more mature level than you did in school. Quite refreshing, really.

My biggest memory of high school graduation is the announcer guy messing up my name. Not just a minor mistake either; he put me in a totally different ethnic group.

I didn't miss high school at all. University is so much better.

    Congrats! :D

I remember that my graduation was supposed to be outside, with a lovely setup for the students, speakers, and guests in nice sunny weather. But it rained instead, so we all sat inside the gym on bleachers, and it got really hot and humid.

Actually, same thing happened when I graduated university too.
