Free or cheap OS (NON LINUX!!!)?

I am looking to find a free or very cheap (under $100) operating system.

Requirements:

NON LINUX!

able to run on a computer with an intel processor (x86 (32bit)), 4gb RAM, 80gb HDD .5gb video.

Needs to have a GUI, and able to use Firefox and OpenOffice.

I have already tryed and ruled out SunOS, SkyOS, Linux, and NimbleX.

Please, NO LINUX!!!

Update:

I have fresh copys of both windows xp and vista. Microsoft is sending me win 7 ult. When it's out. I would like to stay away from windows for the time being, but may return to it. I know that I have only tryed a few Linux flavours, but I'm done with that as well. And I would like a somewhat slick GUI.

Here are a few. He does not include gOS. gOS meets all your requirements.

Looks like you're SOL. I would recommend FreeBSD or one of the other BSDs, but they're very similar to Linux...in fact, they're more "geek", so if you can't handle Linux, you'll not enjoy using them either.

SkyOS is no longer under development, NimbleX is based on Linux to run from a media device. And SunOS, well, it's from Sun.

I don't understand your objection to Linux, considering there are a couple of hundred distributions available.

Maybe PC-BSD, it's pretty easy to use. The only problem is flashplayer, I think it only has flash 7. But it's binary-compatible with Linux and Windows (with Wine), so you can probably install the Linux or Windows version of Firefox and the latest flashplayer.

It's too bad you got turned off to linux. I can't imagine you tried more than a few distributions. Regardless, you can buy XP and VIsta OEM copies in your range:

If you're a student you can get Server O8 for free Dreamspark:

Check out Haiku OS based on BeOS.

It is not Linux based, and you can try it without installing the OS on your hard drive.

Source(s): I tried it in the past.
