I think have a virus on win vista?cant run norton live update and cant visit the site the virus is stopping me?

When i connect to the net normally to any site i ca do it if i try to connect to my anti virus software site (Norton 08 360) it says connection problem same when i try to run norton live update? I also cant do windows updates i tink a virus is stopping me? Any thoughts or ideas?

Update:

to those who answered thankyou, i tried various spyware but the the virus's either stopped me going to any type o web page that was related to ant virus or spyware and those i was able to ge of websites not in official virus/spyware sites couldn't be ran, so if this happens to anyone in the future what i have done and it seems to have worked is to re-boot my laptop and start in safe mode (press F8 at restart) and from there i could perform a full system restore to a point where the laptop was working fine, i was unable to do this outside of safe mode as i think the virus was stopping the process but from here now i can perform live updates and install anti spyware as well as download and install windows updates. Good Luck all in the fight against these annoying viruses

    Get malwarebytes antimalware from http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Update and run a quick system scan .

    Also get superantispyware from http://www.superantispyware.com/

update and run a full system scan , these two apps should probably help you !

You would also wish to have a good antivirus

Try any one of these ,

    Avast - http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

    Avira - http://www.free-av.com/

    AVG - http://www.free.avg.com/

Also prevent malware and viruses from getting into your computer , get a good firewall - COMODO FREE FIREWALL

    http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

try to find out what the name of the virus is

Norton can usually give you the details

form there you can do some research and find ways to remove it

try emailing Symantec (the company that makes Norton, on another computer maybe) and give them as much detail as you can about your problem

they will give you further advice on what you should do

if you cant remove it then your only option is to wipe your hard drive and reinstall windows
