WHY do non BELIEVERS spend so much time and effort?
trying to prove, debate, hate, argue, that there is no GOD, It seems that if you did not believe something why with all the effort, should your time and effort be better used trying to prove something that is important, makes a difference in the world, that you love and can be beneficial to mankind, rather than disputing somebody else beliefs, that don't effect you at all ??? Wasted effort if you ask me!
Every time the SEED is sown it benefits mankind
Agree, religion is screwed up, even Jesus admitted that in the Bible, but God and Jesus is not

Because they live in the world and don't believe in anything but them selves.
But as they get more curious about proving Christ did not exist
They get pulled into the word.
A lot of genius people who tried to prove that god did not exist
ended up converting to christianity. so its all good.

I think a true non-believer is the same as a true believer. Both sides are equally convinced they know whether or not God exists, and both sides enjoy arguing about it. The argumentative efforts of the atheist are no more or less time wasting of the argumentative efforts of the true believer. Well--a bit less time wasting as the atheists don't participate in crusades or blowing up airplanes, buildings, and crowds of people in the name of their God.
As for me, I don't believe the existence of God is knowable or provable in this lifetime, one way or another. So I don't waste my time or anyone else's debating or arguing about God.

I don't have an opinion on god. I don't believe, but I don't not believe either. I think religion is the root of most problems on Earth. The whole middle east problem is pretty much religious. BTW, the church was against a lot of history's great minds (like Galileo and Copernicus)

Wasted effort is right, but of course in my religion, its pointless to think about the creator, if you think about the complexity of the universe and the way things work, the fact that we haven't even scratched the surface on how the universe works, proves that the creator has a mind far to complex for our tiny minds to ever understand. keep your mind on more important things, the world has too much suffering in it to, add to it with our petty squabbling, over the desires of a mind so obviously beyond us.

Religion is just packaged dishonesty that prevents people from telling right from wrong and holds us back as a society.
In this way it is important that people see through it, so attempting to show people the light IS "something important", and it would be "beneficial to mankind" if everyone was without religion.

"non-believers" does not immediately propose "atheist" in that experience. you're a non-believer in some thing. i'm a non-believer in monotheist religions. i've got not got faith in one God... i've got faith there are various. So i does no longer be attempting to cajole "believers" that there's no god. And in case you're taking a closer seem, no longer all Christians attempt to transform out of a few style of compassion for others. some have taken up employing that as a justification to hate non's and to apply it against people. So rather, I see no distinction in that and whilst an atheist actively tries to cajole people there's no longer a god. yet! talk and soliciting for evidence isn't attempting to cajole others there's no longer a god. soliciting for evidence is organic... i'm making a guess that any monotheist you communicate with could ask for evidence of Many Gods.

Why do non believers spend so much time and effort arguing against the idea of gods?
Because the people who DO believe run the societies we live in, and we're scared of them and what they do. I think you are wrong about their beliefs being something that doesn't affect us at all. As the motivation for a lot of what they do, there IS an effect, on us and everyone else.
So we're trying to disprove what we think is part of the intellectual basis of their behavior, in the hope of preventing this from spreading and becoming a worse danger than it already is.

Primarily because I feel that religion - especially fundamentalist - has done so much damage to our species. All the lives lost, time wasted and progress held back, due to dogmatism. Think of how far we could be technologically if we had not allowed religion to hijack our species. Therefore, I see the continued awakening of logic and reason as absolutely essential to continue the forward progress of humankind.

Because religions are evil. I think a world without religious zealots would benefit mankind greatly! No more suicide bombers or holy wars fought over who's god is better than who's!
