What is your opinion on this?

This is the Australian "Labradoodle" Association.

I was reading their page the other day, and came across this:

They have a list of visions for the "Labradoodle" - this one made me laugh. "To work with the Australia National

Kennel Club (ANKC) towards the goal of full recognition as a pure breed."

But then they had this: http://www.laa.org.au/ala-breeder/parentbreeds.htm

The Confirmed and Approved Parent Breeds of the Australian Labradoodle are as follows:

1. Poodle (Standard, Miniature, Toy)

2. Labrador Retriever

3. Irish Water Spaniel

4. Curly Coat Retriever

5. American Cocker Spaniel

6. English Cocker Spaniel

"These six Parent Breeds

are the ONLY approved Parent Breeds used in the development of the Australian Labradoodle to date. The ALA does not recognize any other parent breeds than those listed and used above. Any Australian Labradoodle infused with other Parent Breeds than those listed above will not be considered for registration. Parent Breed Infusion Committee: The ALA has assigned 5 ALA Accredited Breeders to a Committee for consideration and approval of Parent Breed Infusions."

So, if I understand correctly, they want the mutts to be recognised as a purebred even when they are still adding more breeds?

What do you think?

Oh, and in case this is seen as a rant or whatever and deleted:

Legit: What does your dog do when he asks to go outside/for a walk?

Lui whines by the door to go outside, and when he wants a walk he follows me around, like I'll go upstairs and when he follows it means he wants to go. He doesn't go upstairs often unless asked or he is following me up to bed (yes he sleeps in my room when he wants to).

Update:

As I understand it, someone tried to breed them to create a low allergy dog for blind people, though I don't understand why a Poodle, which is commonly used today, could not be used. I believe the project failed, and now they are only bred, well, I say it's for profit and people getting to say "look at my purebred labradoodle" or some rubbish like that.

The project did fail, it is not a purebred, and Poodles for allergic, blind people are a great alternative that work. I see nothing on the site about them being bred for blind people, just to be recognised as a breed, and in my opinion that is only for the breeders and owners to justify what they do.

But yes, overall the mutt has no purpose, no reason to be bred, unlike the actual purebreds which had a purpose and are now bred to keep the breeds going.

I live in Australia and I know that the ALA had been or is still pushing the ANKC hard for the "Labradoodle" to become a legitimate registerable breed.

    Poppycock if you ask me.

"Labradoodles" have no purpose; they are not bred for anything other than a fluffy companion. Now if they breed this mix with the intentions of creating an exceptional field dog, now that I wouldn't have a problem with. At least then the dog has a purpose.

I don't even think "labradoodles" are breeding true yet, even after about 20 odd years.

Legit: Both my dogs will whine softly if they want to go outside. For walks, they just pester me until I take them.

Psh. They want a "labradoodle" to be a reconginized PURE breed...when the dog itself is made from two different dogs, which come from a list of 6?!

Wow...I've seen this site before, but never really read it, haha. They're pretty ignorant, in my opinion..

    Legit:

My dog will just sit by the door and stare at me. If I'm not by the door or fail to see him he'll walk up to me and stare at me until I look at him and then he'll walk to the door. He also will stretch up and paw at the door knob which is cute to me :)

He doesn't really ask for walks...we just go every night and if I miss a night, he doesn't seem to care, haha. He gets so excited when I say "bye bye?!" or "walk!?" or hears his leash though.. :)

    ADDED:

I'm too lazy to read through the website, but why are they being bred? I've heard that they were originally bred for "hypo-allergenic" guide dogs, but that didn't work out...

So are they pushing for the ANKC to recognize them as a breed for a reason other than 'labradoodles' just being cute floppy mutts? Are they trying to perfect them so they CAN be guide dogs?

Sorry if that makes no sense, haha..

    ADDED:

I've always wondered why they can't just use poodles for guide dogs. Why the lab mixed in? Poodles are really smart, loyal dogs as well...

    Hmm :/

    It's just ridiculous.

This is also annoying to me because people are going to get incentive to go out breeding their labs with poodles to make "pure bred labradoodles" & make some extra money, when the world is already so over populated with mutts..

    ugh :/

The original Labradoodle group had closed their stud books and were on generation F6 or so of Labradoodle x Labradoodle breedings when the club sort of fell apart.

I don't know if another group has picked up the ball and is trying to run with it, but the only way to develop a purebred breed is to have closed stud books for several generations and produce dogs who have consistent and repeatable characteristics for several generations.

I think people can feel free to have the opinion that they want. They should be able to express there opinion, and those who listen (which should be lots of people) should have an open mind, and maybe change there opinion. Some opinions may not turn into anything, but it doesnt mean there worthless. Even if nobody treasures your opinion, you should. Its what makes you who you are.

    Legit to your question:

Demon will come and tug on my socks

Koda will sit in front of the recliner, then put one big ole paw on my leg over and over

Bear will yarf yarf, 2 times then heads for the door and sits in front of it.

Nikita my new Akita, he rolls over on his back and barks, then sits up, I play like I did not hear him, he rolls over and roll then barks, then looks at me, I get up, they all head for the dogie door to be unlocked, it is locked after dark, but unlocked in the daytime.

they are all so funny in their I want to go mommy ways.

And I think it is stupid with all these registries trying to register mutts and say they are pure breds, pure mixed mutts and they are sold for the price of a pure bred...they should all be shut down......

I think it's a bit stupid. The breed isn't contributing, it's not like it's a working dog! Hope they don't start in the US...

Legit-He doesn't do anything, but he bounces when I take the leash out.

I honestly hate it. Mutts have no purpose, and it drives me insane when people get them and think that they have a cool new accessory.

He walks to the door, and barks. He also runs up to me and puts his paws on my lap and claws my leg.
