Changing to a world currency is probably one of the worst things that could be done to harm the U.S. economy.
Along with a world government, a world currency would be the beginning of the end of sovereign governments.

No, the Euro doesn't want to be dragged down by the financial instability of the US economy. It's always in and out of recession, and it can send the whole world into a downfall. Imagine what would happen if the EU, the world's largest economy, and the US, the world's second largest economy, joined together, and then collapsed. The consequences would be devastating.
The reckless nature of Wall Street is too unpredictable for the sensible EU to consider. The Euro is for the European's and their free trade agreement, and all nations that wish to trade with it. The only change that could ever possibly happen to the greenback in the near future is possibly a currency merge with Canada and Mexico, but I doubt America would sign up for it.

No, because the US dollar is extremely ingrained in the international economy. 2/3 of all dollars are in circulation outside of the US. It is the official currency of 8 other countries besides the United States, and is accepted in just about every country.

I am for the gold and silver standard. Because that is the only legal tender allowed by the constitution plus it protects the peoples money from inflation, and puts thegovernment on a budget.
Gold and silver is also universally accepted as legal tender
