How do you clean up puke off of carpet?

When someone pukes on your carpet, how do you wash it off? It's not movable, so what's the best solution? How long does it generally take?

    Pour clean Cat Litter (NOT the scoopable kind) on the puke.

    Then Sweep up after letting the Cat litter absorb the liquid.

    Then Vacuum

    Hire a carpet cleaner at the weekend with solution, 20 quid ,bit of time puke gone and all the carpets in the house clean.

    I would scrape as much off as I can then sprinkle bicarb on it and leave for several hours then vaccume up whats left. This will soak up any moister and neutrilize odor.
