Help with the name Ruth?
My Grandma's middle name was Ruth and I have always wanted to use it to honor her. We're not pregnant but we have been talking about names for a while and I have tried and tried to find something that sounds good with the middle name Ruth, but I can't find anything that feels "right". So now I'm thinking maybe I could use it as a first name, I definitely love the name enough to do that, but I have a few things holding me back...so I'm hoping ya'll can help :)
1. Do you think Ruth is too "old-fashioned" sounding?
2. I have a hard time imagining a little girl named Ruth, even a young adult, can you tell me what kind of girl or adult you imagine with the name?
3. Do you know anyone named Ruth or are you named Ruth, a description and opinion would be great!
4. Do you have suggestions for a middle name for Ruth and could you help and maybe come up with some names that sound good with Ruth as the middle name?
I know that's a lot to ask, but ya'lls opinions and answers would be so appreciated, and rude answers really aren't needed, so if you're not gonna be nice please don't answer.
Thanks guys, I really am stuck on this <3

Personally I love traditional names. Ruth is old-fashioned but I love it and would certainly use it. Ruth is a beautiful feminine sounding name. I think it sounds cute for a little girl but is still a strong enough name for an adult.
Ruth Anne
Ruth Carys
Ruth Erin
Ruth Gaynor
Ruth Isla(eye-la)
Ruth Kathryn
Ruth Mairead (mar-aid)

1. No it's not too old fashioned. It is old-fashioned, but by no means ridiculously or too much so. I absolutely ADORE the name! It's on my name list. =)
2. Honestly, I can picture many different types of girls with it. I mosly picture a very hyper and excited girl who is a bit of a dare-devil and tomboy. I can also see, though, a more feminine / girly girl.
3. I only know of one person named Ruth, but she is my friends mother. Lovely woman and a teacher for the high school I went to.
4. See below for middle names and first names.
Ruth Caroline
Ruth Charlotte
Ruth Scarlett
Ruth Angeline
Ruth Lynnette
Ruth Natalie
Ruth Guienevere
Ruth Katherine
Ruth Michelle
Ruth Annaliese
Clarissa Ruth
Amelia Ruth
Loretta Ruth
Kathleen Ruth
Diana Ruth
Michaela Ruth
Savannah Ruth
Brianna / Briana Ruth
There are lots of good names that go with it. =)

That is my grandmother's middle name as well and it going to be my next daughter's middle name. My favorites are Isabella Ruth and Madelaine Ruth. I've never really thought of using it as a first name, so all the middle names I can come up with at the moment don't sound right, but I like the name and it is a little old fashioned, but I like old fashioned names. It means there won't be 20 other little girls named Ruth in class with your daughter.

I don't think it's too old fashioned, I'm 16 and I'm Okay with it :)
There are several people i know also called Ruth and they are all from different age groups and there all so different personality and looks wise, my middle name is Victoria and i like it. I'd go for it, names are in and out of 'fashion' all the time.
I also like-
Madison
Hannah
Catherine.
I think the middle name would have to be a longer one to make it flow better... :)
hope this helps

1. Yes, but I personally like old-fashioned names! Ruth isn't one of my favourites but I think it is very cute anyway.
2. I can picture a little girl called Ruth more than an older person actually. I picture a little girl with wavy brown hair in braids. She's smart, friendly, and sweet. (And likes cookies!)
3. I don't know anybody called Ruth.
4. Vera Ruth, Vivienne Ruth, Ainsley Ruth, Madeline Ruth, Ruth Madelena, Olivia Ruth, Alice Ruth, Matilda Ruth, Ruth Isabella, Ruth Genevieve, Isla Ruth, Ivana Ruth, Kaila Ruth, Ruth Renee, Rosalie Ruth, Caitlin Ruth, Ruth Alexandra, Ruth Jane...
Hope I helped!

ruth anne is common in the south.... the one common trait of all 'RUTHS that i have know is that they have been both honest and good people.... that may not have been the name so much as the parents values were old fashioned and thus Ruth's values simply reflected her parents...
but there are those that think that the name DOES help shape the child...
i hope that was helpful-
