Which hospitals allow VBAC?

How do you find out if a hospital allows attempted VBACs? The info isn't on a web site. I want to find a doctor at a much closer hospital but don't know their policy. Which department should I talk to if I have to call (I'd prefer to avoid calling)? If I switch hospitals how do you go about choosing an OB/Gyn, do I just choose one from the book and see how the first appt goes? It seems like I might go through quite a few and that's a lot of paperwork to transfer. Thanks to anyone who can answer. I'm not typically so flaky I just avoid doctor as much as I can.

Update:

yeah, it's mainly the getting used to someone new part more than doctors in general.

VBAC is a vaginal birth after caesarean section. c-sections suck.

I would think you need at least a year or longer. I had a VBAC 3 years after my c-section. It went great and was easier than my other two births. I think it's key to find out if your doctor supports you in your attempt to have a VBAC. One toher important thing to consider is why you had a section in the first place and is it a problem that could reoccur? Congrats on your little one and good luck in the future!

id call the hospital OB dept and speak with the social worker in attendance. But if you don't like going to the doc - getting pregnant ain't you for!

    good luck
