  • What to do about screaming neighbors?

At what point should police be called? This has been a problem before I moved in. It's been gOing on for years. But when you hear phrases like "buy a handgun" followed with f*** you up, f*** him up, f*** everyone up, mixed into standard screaming it gets disturbing.

I don't know that there has been physical violence but the verbal abuse is horrendous. Other neighbors have made complaints in the past but it's one of those cases were she comes out and pleads nothings wrong.

Some of the stuff is just viscious. Last summer I believe I caught threats of "burning everyone out" when he was asked to pipe down. I don't believe anything will come of it but this goes on for hours almost daily. Neither one can work or drive. I have small children who have to hear this even being indoors (and across the road and a house down in the country) you can hear him.

I get that nothing will change, most times I can tune him out. I would be on the phone daily if I called for every time he gets going. At what point do I say enough is enough and call police out to try and tone it down a little while.

The only peace we had was while he spent seven months in the hospital after falling into a bonfire, which sounds horrible. People truly believe he was pushed. It's that bad.

  • Feed recommendations for laminitis prone horse?

My mare has had sore foot issues come and go for several years now generally in winter and early spring. The stretched hoof wall is nearly grown out and she's had a completely sound summer but with the ground freezing she is about to start the cycle again. I don't want to end up at the beginning with a completely distorted hoof wall to grow out and months of lameness. I'd like to make her main diet grassy hay but she's low weight and needs additional calories with out the sugars. We've tried the "founder" sugar-free, low carb safe choice feeds and she won't eat them.

Does any one have ideas on supplements to keep her mineral content up. I'm considering a small amount of complete or senior feed with an oil to keep up her weight will she need additional vitamins? I also think a blanket may help by reducing the energy used staying warm and lowering her calorie needs. I don't want her to drop any weight while managing the hoof issue.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions

  • Which hospitals allow VBAC?

How do you find out if a hospital allows attempted VBACs? The info isn't on a web site. I want to find a doctor at a much closer hospital but don't know their policy. Which department should I talk to if I have to call (I'd prefer to avoid calling)? If I switch hospitals how do you go about choosing an OB/Gyn, do I just choose one from the book and see how the first appt goes? It seems like I might go through quite a few and that's a lot of paperwork to transfer. Thanks to anyone who can answer. I'm not typically so flaky I just avoid doctor as much as I can.

  • Parents, what made you certain you wanted another baby?

I have a 4 year old son and a 20 month old daughter and am on the Mirena. Now I'm really thinking I want one more. Now is the time to decide, I'd like them fairly evenly spaced so I'd like to start trying around January for a fall baby. That gives me a month or so to think things over before getting the IUD removed.

I'd like to hear some of the things you considered in making a choice to have another baby or a choice to have only one or two and stop at that. Your thoughts could really help me make sure I'm making the right choice for me.

If it makes a difference finances aren't an issue, I'm already at home and plan to be until the kids are in school so 2 more years home won't be a big deal. My husband wants whatever I want, after planning on two he sometimes feels like he would like another and sometimes feels two is plenty just like I felt.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and comments.

  • Suggestions for turning up a new garden?

I know I won't get a good planting this year but I wasn't able to do it last fall. I'll probably have someone from the extension office do soil testing. I just need advice for getting the ground worked. Should I water the area to make it easier or would it just be muddy? I also plan to till horse manure into it to compost through the summer. I hope to mix it in and cover the area with black plastic. Will it break down faster and help stop weeds from coming in over the summer?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Is there a group or food bank that can use baby formula?

I have about 13 cans because my 8 month old won't touch the stuff. I don't want it to sit in the pantry and go to waste. Does any one know of a good place to donate in the Southeast Michigan / Toledo Ohio area?

  • Searching for a decent macro lens for Cannon Rebel XT?

I need a lens for shooting highly detailed miniatures generally an inch to three inches in height. Needs to work in a range of a few inches to two feet from the object, to get a small detail or a small unit of several pieces. I'm trying to pick up the terminology but I'm still lost trying to choose a lens. I'm debating on the EF-S60mm f/2.8 Macro USM the EF100mm f/2.8 Macro USM (this is pushing my price range but I'll get whatever is the best choice) and the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC IF Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras.

I've looked at Tamron lenses but I'm leary of "getting what I paid for" they either have Great reviews or very bad reviews.

If any one does miniature photography or knows their lenses I'd love any suggestions or recommendations for my needs. Thanks in advance and feel free to email if you could use more info to help me pick the lens I need.

  • Glucose testing for Gestational Diabetes and carbs?

I'm a little unsure of the difference in how sugars and carbs break down. I believe that sugars break down quickly hence the "sugar low" a little while afterwards. Then carbs turn into sugars a little while later?

I failed my one hour test by 18 points. They tell you to eat a breakfast just not anything high in sugar. I had a bowl of Very low sugar cereal but it's actually higher in carbs than a few of the slightly more sugary ones.

It was about two hours after the cereal that they did the blood draw, is that about the same time that I'd be getting a sugar boost in my system due to the digesting carbs?

I passed a 3 hour test at 22 weeks but still needed to be retested at 28. I'm just surprised that I failed by so much and want to know if the carbs may have been the cause or if I should be worried about having GD?

Any advice on how sugars break down would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Washing wool blanket?

I received a 100% lambs wool blanket as a wedding gift from a friend in Scotland and over 3 years it's gotten some spots and needs a wash. What products are recommended for wool? I know for diapers they make lanolin based shampoos and conditioners since wool is hair, or is there a similar "people" shampoo that's easier to get. I do know the No Heat, Air Dry rules for washing. I'm just trying to get an idea as to what is the very best way to care for it as I can't fly overseas to replace it and it means a lot to me. Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions.

  • 2nd baby showers?

Sorry to ask here but you should all have great opinions.

I was wondering about having a simple get together for the second baby if it's a girl. My son is 2 so I really don't need anything for a new one except for Little girly things. Small stuff like cute socks, ribbons, pink onsies whatever. I don't want it to be a begging for stuff party as much as a fun excuse to get together with people I don't see often. Does anyone think a second party is exceptable? Or would it seem rude.

P.S. I wouldn't be hosting for myself, I Know that's rude! And if it's a boy I won't worry because I have it all I might try a "meet the baby" get together in that case.

  • Warmblood certifcation and shoes for height?

I know that when measuring ponies and certain breeds they give you an allowance for shoes that does not count as the horses height.

I have a client who is taking a warmblood mare in for her breeding certification but they must be 15.3 minimum for height and she is very borderline. I believe she's over but the owner is sure she's dead on or a tad low. She believes that addin shoes and possibly pads will give the added boost to make sure she qualifies.

I'm not sure if the certification board takes shoes into account for height. If they do it's not going to help much and may cause trouble if we add the pads. Has anybody had any experience with this or any good guesses on the regulations? Any advice would be helpful.

The mare is Thoroughbred and I believe Holsteiner but I may have the warmblood side wrong.

  • Pains along c-section scar during 2nd pregnancy?

My first was delivered by c-section 2 years ago and I've just found out I'm pregnant again. I'm only six weeks in and I'm having sharp pains along the scar line. It happens when I sit up quickly and sometimes even when I cough for the past two weeks but never before. I'm wondering if this is common, will they get better or worse as I grow, should I see a doctor earlier than I usually would?

If anyone has had the same experience with a second pregnancy I'd like to hear their suggestions.

    Thanks
