Can a five year old girl get pregnant?

I've only heard of it happening once before. A 5 year old in Peru had a baby delivered by c-section many years ago.

She had had periods since the age of 3 and had breasts.

She had a problem with her pituatry gland producing too much hormone, which caused her to develop and hit puberty way too early! Back then most girls did not start their periods until they were 16, due to less hormones in the food amongst other things.

The girl had a medical problem, but she was obviously raped too. No body was ever charged with the case as she could not describe what happened. Her father was accused but never sentenced.

It is so disturbing how a 5 year old could have a baby! It is so sad!

It's an extremely rare condition that would cause a girl younger than 9 or 10 to begin to ovulate. She is obviously a rape victim, but most likely lives in a country that views women as property, so nothing will likely be done as far as an investigation, let alone punishing her rapist.

The youngest girl to get pregnant was 5. This is only because she had started her period at the age of 3 which is extremely rare and probably due to malnourishment amoung other factors.

Probably not, because most girls don't menstruate until around age 12. And if she's not menstruating yet, she's not ovulating, and probably can't get pregnant.

a girl has to have her period in order to get pregnant. A 5 year old girl does not ovulate.

When a girl starts her period she is able to get pregnant because she has begun ovulating.

No it's not possible and if it was the little girl would die for sure giving birth!
