This cartoon on Afghanistan says it all, doesn't it?

Update:

True, our folks have been pretty much ignored, ridiculed, and written off by an administration who refuses to support or even acknowlege them.

Update 2:

The thing is, we aren't trying to conquer Afghanistan- we're just trying to crush the bad guys there like we did in Iraq. I was in Iraq for the surge. It worked. You can be more effective with more troops to cover more ground and eliminate more threats. Before the surge, we had to be more defensive and couldn't commit resources to deal with things. I had to duck and cover from mortars all the freakin' time. To simplify- After the surge, we had more troops to go after the insurgents, so there were less attacks on us and the peaceful Iraqis. If you don't understand WHY more troops are important, brush up on your Clauswitz or pull your head out of the sand.

    Very sad, but bery true.

I served two tours in Iraq in the Army and I can tell you that there's nothing more demoralizing than to know that your leadership has their heads up their fourth point of contact.

    No.

Seriously, we are a nation of retards. I'm sorry but it has to be said. We have no grasp on critical thinking or historical events.

What general wouldn't ask for more troops? They are leading an army. Of course their solution is to say "more troops". They're not going to say, "Oh, we should just stop wasting our time here".

No military force in the history of the world has ever conquered Afghanistan. Not the British, not the Russians, no one. Why are we so arrogant to think that we can win it? There is a reason it's called the graveyard of empires.

Edit: 1.) the surge consisted mostly of bribery. 2.) is creating a stable government different from conquering it? seems to me that we're trying take over the country, and set it up in a way that is suitable to our interests. 3.) more troops = more wasted lives.

Yes, but not in the way you think. We've been there for 8 years. Why is EVERYTHING still such an "emergency"?
