Mouth guards you would suggest?

what mouth guard would u suggest for striking. i have a good mouth guard for grappling but i need a striking mouth guard.

what ones would u suggest? (from experience)

do u suggest a upper and lower or just a upper?

Update:

i understand that some arts train u to be ready for a street fight so i appreciate ur comments. but i need a good mouthguard to protect against brain damgage in training. not all arts revolve around street fighting im training to be a NAGA fighter and posibly cage at some point so i need a good mouth guard that does more then give me something to bite on.

Jesus Christ, do not listen to the guy that said to get a 1 dollar Walmart mouth piece. Sweet lord O'mighty. Those are mouthpieces with only one protective side instead of today's technology with two that helps the bottom jaw along with the top. That is how you stop your jaw from shifting.

    Shock doctor or Brain pad.

    Gonna get someone killed, Jesus.

If you want a mouth guard to protect you against brain damage, then you need to get a bunch of them and tape them into a helmet. You might as well be asking us "I need some shin guards that prevent brain damage..." It just doesn't protect that part of your body. Other than that they aren't designed for anything but to keep your teeth clenched.

To use a mouth guard properly, you put in your mouth and bite down. This forces you to keep your mouth close. When your mouth is open, and you fall, you risk biting your tongue off, which is an injury you can sustain with grappling. It's also clenching that keeps your teeth from being knocked out. You actually can technically go without a mouth guard at all but it's not good for your teeth.

So with that in mind, high tech mouth guards are just a waste of money. Anyone who says you need a certain type of mouth guard for something is completely ignorant on how a mouth guard really works and what it can and can't do.

Get a mouthpiece that covers the upper and lower portion of your mouth. I used a mouthguard that only covered my upper teeth, and I got hit so hard in a kickboxing match that my teeth went thru my lower lip. I still have the scar til this day.

I don't have any experience with the brain pad mouthpiece, but that's what I would use if I was still competing today.

Spend the extra money for a good mouthpiece. It's cheaper to buy a mouthpiece than it is to replace a tooth/teeth.

One from Wal-mart. They are about $1. All a mouth guard does is give you something to bite down on so don't knock your teeth together when getting hit in the jaw and break your teeth. If your tongue is in the way it can be hard enough to bite a piece off your tongue. If your teeth are clenched you are also less likely to get your teeth knocked out. I have never heard about having to get different mouth guards for different disciplines. If you are getting attacked in the street what are you going to do? Ask they guy if he would like to strike you or take you down so you can put in the appropriate mouth guard?

i like the upper one that you put in hot water then bite into to get a custom fit they stay put better and are cheap 3$ at most as for upper and lower they are hard to breathe through when you a sucking wind and i can't remember ever seeing anyone get a bottom tooth knocked out it almost always upper teeth that go missing..

This is the only place I get my mouthguards from! Heres the link:
