When did you get your first ultrasound?
I am 9 weeks today and just had an appointment with my OB. I asked her when I could get my first ultrasound and she said they won't give me one until I am 19 or 20 weeks unless they suspect something is wrong.
This seems really late to me, I always thought they did one sooner than that and I'm kinda mad because I want to see my baby! Is this normal?

That's normal. Some women get an ultrasound late in the first trimester but in a lot of cases, you won't get one until around 18-22 weeks along.
I know it's tough to wait it out but the good news is that during that ultrasound you should be able to find out what gender baby you're having (assuming that he/she corporates).

Yep thats normal. Unless they need to date your pregnancy or something seems wrong most OB's dont schedule your first ultrasound until you're far enough along for the screenings and anatomy check which is between 15-22 weeks, usually closer to 18 weeks and 20 weeks.
Totally normal.
Personally I've had two that were early on, just because I have wicked long cycles and they never know when I got pregnant.

Most doctors these days only do 1 ultrasound, and that's at 20 weeks to do the anatomy scan. Some doctors do one at 10 weeks to confirm pregnancy, but it really just depends o nthe doctor.
No more ultrasounds should be expected unless there is a medical necessity, since the waves used can be harmful to the baby. They just like to minimize the exposure to be on the safe side :)

I had my first ultrasound at 5 wks 6 days at my first appointment. Then had another at 9 wks. I think different Dr different things. I'm not high risk and thought maybe something was wrong, but they said no. My next will be my 20 wk in Dec. Then they said at 28 wks they will do a 3d/4d ultrasound.

I got one at 8 weeks because I was high risk, it was too early to try for a heartbeat on doppler and I've had several miscarriages so they wanted to make sure the baby was ok until I came back for another appointment, if I hadn't had a history of miscarriages I wouldn't have gotten one until I was 20 weeks along... most doctors only do the anatomy scan because that scan is really the only one needed.

My doctor told me the same thing.. 19 or 20 weeks. It depends on your Doctor. My friend had an Ultrasound done in each trimester. I am so disappointed too! I really want to see my baby as well!
