"Religiously speaking" Is it not totally irrelevant to start a question that way?
Why then do so many people do it? Is it lack of education?

It's often an attempt to justify irrelevant questions that belong in other topic areas.
Saying, for example, "Religiously speaking, how many names are there in the Manhattan phone book?" is just silly when placed in the R&S section.
I don't know that it has to do with educational levels. It has more to do with forcing ideas and issues into places where they probably do not belong. Just an opinion.

Because any stupid question that begins with "Religiously speaking" will be accepted in R&S by the powers that be. Yes, it could be a lack of education.

Yes it is a lack of understanding. To say "Religiously speaking" simply means one is using ones awareness of ones religion as a basis for what one is saying.
But when people say "Spiritually speaking" they fail to realize that this is an oxymoron. Spiritual Energy is the Energy of God and the Soul, and there is no "speaking" involved in or with Spirituality. Communication via Spirituality is by direct perception, via ones "intuition" in other words and ones MIND and brain are not involved at all.

people start a question with Religiously/Spritually Speaking" usually when the question is actually off topic, thereby giving the question some kind of spritual significance so it won't be deleted.

Rather immature. Like a 12year old wanting to draw attention.
I suspect they will grow out of.

It's fun! Also, it will often catagorize a question into *this* section automatically.
Also, it seems to pish off the right people :)
