18wks pregnant having mild abdominal pain, Lots of other questions lol?

I have lots of questions about this.

1. How do I know it's not the baby? Obviously this is my first baby and I don't know how it feels when the baby moves inside me. I've read it's suppose to be like a flutter? I figured it's just one of those things where I'll just know when the time comes.

2. This abdominal pain I feel is mostly in the evening or the early morning when I first wake up. Then I don't have it anymore during the day. This is what makes me think it could be gas from what I ate for dinner and it stays in my belly until morning. But it never passes, it just goes away. It's usually on my left side and I know the only organ there is intestines. Could it be gas and how can I either stop it or pass it?

3. Is it safe to wear a seat belt and if so how should I wear it so it's safe for Baby?

4. When should I definitely start to show? I think I'm suppose to be showing but most of the time I look and don't think I am. I lost about 13lbs my first trimester and slowly gaining it back. Maybe this will delay the show? Last time I went to the doc (Oct. 27) I was 149lbs and I'm 5'5 Maybe it will help for somebody around my height and weight?

5. Could it be menstrual cramps?

    1) baby's first movements feel like flutters, or bubbles, or gas- its not painful.

    2) likely the discomfort you're feeling is from ligaments and tendons and muscles stretching- the uterus pulls away from you all night while you're sleeping, which makes you sore in the morning, and by the end of the day gravity has taken its toll. Its normal.

    3) yuo absolutely must wear a seatbelt while pregnant. It is perfectly safe for the baby and saves BOTH of your lives. You wear it as usual, across you hips (low on your belly) and over you shoulder.

    4) you show when the uterus runs out of internal space and must protrude outward. Its different with each woman.

    5) menstrual like cramps are normal during pregnancy, they come and go, Its just part of the pain and discomfort of your ever stretching uterus, taxed cervix, and pulling muscles. It should subside when you rest and drink some water, and should never be painful enough to stop you in your tracks and take your breath.

All in all you sound fine and normal :)

I would worry if I were vomiting bright red blood even without the pregnancy but since you are pregnant and have abdominal pain as well I would consult a doctor. It could be something as mild as a broken blood vessel in you throat or as serious a as a bleeding ulcer which could explain the abdominal pain. If it stops maybe you could wait until morning but if it continues you absolutely have to go now. Don't they have a nurse line or something that you can call in your area?

More than likely you are feeling round ligament pains. I felt mine in the evenings and morning too even though all the info I read says they occur most when standing or being active. The baby's first movements for me felt like if popcorn were bubbles lol like popping bubbles! Wasn't strong enough to be popcorn.

It is not only safe to wear a seat belt it is vital you wear a seat belt. Wear it below your belly in case of a collision, it doesn't put pressure on the uterus. I read that babies in the womb rarely die in car accidents when the mother lives. So save yourself, save your baby.

I dint know when you should start to show because I am a completely different body type to you lol But just so you know I "popped" at 22 weeks and that is when I took my first bump pic and I took one again this week and have grown again! Most women say they werent really showing, just looking pudgy then one day... POP! A baby bump!

Good Luck on all things baby!
