Two video cards with three monitors.?

I had an nvidia 8600gt graphics card running two monitors. I just purchased an additional monitor and I am trying to use it with Trident Accelerated 3d Image 975 video card. Either video card works well with the monitor(s) connected to it, but when I leave both video cards in the third (new) monitor stays black. In the device driver list the Trident card has a yellow triangle by it, however when the Trident card is running on its own, the triangle is not present. Do I need a different video card or is something else wrong.

I read that Windows XP can run 6 monitors at once.

The yellow triangle means your Trident is conflicting with your 8600GT. In other words, the two graphics cards don't play nice with each other.

ATI's new HD5700- and 5800-series of video cards do support 3 monitors using their Eyefinity technology: http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/eyefin...

The drawback is that one of the three monitors must have a DisplayPort connector (Dell does have a full line of monitors with DisplayPort, from cheap $200 20-inch panels to their ultraexpensive $1700 30-inches diagonal).

The HD5750 is the cheapest at $150:

An HD5750 should drop right into your P5B mobo's PCIExpress 16x slot.

You need to check compatibility. I find that boards with the same GPU usually work together. Minimally the same board manufacturer (2 nVidias or 2 ATI's), but even that can have problems, even if an odd combo works it's more coincidence. The best way to do it is to use the same boards.

You cant run two at a time. Windows has to have one to point to. You need a video card that can output to 3 sources at once (they are a bit rare and expsensive).
