why oh why? Where's the oatmeal?

My friend in Korea wanted me to send her oatmeal and some other food that she's missing. She said there is no oatmeal in Korea. Why oh why?

Actually, oatmeal is a rare product in S. Korea. Well, the cereals selection in S. Korea is suck. You can found oatmeal in foreign market, underground market (such as Namdaemun) or blackmarket (Itaewon) in S. Korea. But that's also rare.

What you are looking at here is some of the last containers of Oatmeal I could find at the foreign market today. I’ve been to the foreign market about 4 times now and have probably bought a dozen canisters in that time. I noticed each time I went back that there was less and less available. I’m not saying that there are none left there but chances are when I need more I won’t be going there. I do take a little pride in cleaning the vendors out tough.

There are a few bodybuilding websites that I can order it off of. Now I suppose another approach would be to just not eat oatmeal anymore. And I suppose that is a possibility that I may have to face. But it is a grim and fibreless one.

Because the Great Oatmeal Famine of 1673 wiped out nearly 65% of the Korean population. It was also the cause of the Korean War.

Koreans do not usually( or they just don't) have oatmeals. Therefore stores rarely sell them.

I'm korean (currently in the US). I don't usually have oatmeals not cuz i don't like them but becuz i'm too lazy to boil the water and all.

My favorite type of breakfast: Cantonese (yam cha) or full English.

    wooo....I luv baked beans

I also luv the Bayern breakfast WEISSWURST!! and pretzels (soft ones, not the ones that W choked on)

I'd dad loves oatmeal (he's korean).

Anyways, most koreans just have rice and side dishes for breakfast just like lunch and dinner. No distinction between the three meals.

She can make a friend who is in the military or works for the US government. When she visits his house, she can have all the oatmeal she wants.

I don't know why they don't sell it or grow it.

While looking around for an answer I found this. Give her this site and she should be able to find oatmeal in Korea.
