What's the better island, Maui or Kauai?
I love lush greenery, tropical ambiance, wildlife, and beautiful, accessible beaches with clean, clear water. What's the better island for this, Maui or Kauai (or is there an even better one)? Furthermore, which portion of the island meets this the most? Also, do all of the islands have volcanos? Btw, I don't like nightlife, partying, noise, a lot of buildings, etc., but do enjoy good restaurants. Suggestions?

I would suggest Kauai because that island has more nature. You can do more hiking, the pace of life is slower and many of the businesses close around 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm. Maui is nice but I heard if you like a lot of sports and adventure that is the island to go to. My wife and I went to Kauai and loved it. You can relax on so many different beaches and the scenery is amazing. You want to check out the Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon if you go to Kauai.

I live on Kauai and have travelled all over the world and this is the crown jewel of the planet. You can have rest and relaxation in the most gorgeous place on earth and you can also surf, SUP, kayak, hike, zipline, swim, snorkel and just be stunned by all that this island has to offer. I have been on Maui, Hawaii Island, and Oahu and Kauai is my favorite. There are many tourist activities here. Maui is lovely but more people go there. So more traffic and it can get crowded but it is stunning as well.

Kauai is very beautiful but I think there would be more for you to do in Maui. Maui is my favourite island, and I think that Kaanapali would be a good place for you to stay for your age group a short distance from Lahaina. You have the beautiful scenery you want plus a lot of things to see and do as mentioned above.

You will find what you want on either island. If you stay on Maui, stay on the north end of Ka'anapali away from all the crowds. There are many very nice restaurants on Maui. Lahaina is a great town for restaurants and shopping. Maui has a dormant volcano that you can drive up to. The only active volcano is on the Big Island, Hawaii.
On Kauai, I'd stay in Kapaa or Poi Pou. Poi Pou has a little less rain.
