  • What is the safest, nicest area in NY or NJ?

I'm going to be staying in NY or NJ, as close as possible to Metlife Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ) or Madison Square Garden (New York, NY). The most important thing though is that the neighborhood is quiet, safe, and preferable middle-upper middle class. Not looking for anything fancy, maybe a Best Western. I also don't mind driving 20 min to these venues, just want the hotel to be reasonably close. Thanks!

  • How long after bankruptcy will I qualify for the best auto loan rate?

It's been 6 yrs. since I filed. Just wondering when I would qualify for the dealerships' 0-2% promos. Do I have to wait til it's been 7yrs., 10yrs., or will I continue to be offered a poor rate even after 10yrs.? Might I have to pay high interest to re establish even if the bankruptcy is off my record and there is nothing negative since it was filed? If that's the case, I don't care if it's been 20 yrs., I will continue to pay cash for older cars, because I won't pay 15-20% interest.

  • Small black spider with white dots?

I live in San Diego and work at the zoo. We have to watch out for black widows, and I was afraid these might be juveniles. The same places we occasionally find widows, we often find these much smaller, smooth, black spiders with white dots. I have heard that if they're fuzzy, they're jumping spiders, but these are not fuzzy at all. These look like black widows that are smaller, lighter in color, with white dots. Maybe I should ask our entomology dept.!

  • What's the better island, Maui or Kauai?

I love lush greenery, tropical ambiance, wildlife, and beautiful, accessible beaches with clean, clear water. What's the better island for this, Maui or Kauai (or is there an even better one)? Furthermore, which portion of the island meets this the most? Also, do all of the islands have volcanos? Btw, I don't like nightlife, partying, noise, a lot of buildings, etc., but do enjoy good restaurants. Suggestions?

  • How far out are buoys in the ocean?

I live in Coronado and made it out to the buoy (although I had a spring suit on). Anyway, it was a goal of mine, and I was wondering how far out it is.

  • Planted from red sunflower packet and got all yellow!?

I have been trying to figure out the genetics of sunflowers. Last year, I bought a packet of red sunflower seeds and planted them, but they all came out to be yellow! After the season, they dropped seeds, and I had hundreds of seedlings sprout this year. I selected the darkest purple seedlings from the F2 generation. They grew with purple stems and veins, but when they all bloomed they were yellow again! Some light yellow, some dark yellow. I heard Red was dominant in sunflower genetics, so I'm wondering if an explaination is that maybe the original parent plants could have been pollinated by yellow sunflowers. After seeing the dark purple veins and stems with yellow flowers, I thought red was recessive, but people are saying it's dominant, so I'm confused. I am mainly wondering though if the seeds are true to the respective parent plant or if a plant can throw different genes in each seed and to what varying extent. Also can it both self pollinat and be pollinated by another color? Thanks.

  • Skinny body with big stomach, help!?

So some history here is that I have always been ultra skinny. I was ridiculed for years. I was around 100lbs from teenage through early 20s. I'm 31 now and have finally hit 120lbs. I am starting to notice my metabolism slowing down, but all the extra weight is going to my stomach. I used to have a six pack at 12. Since about 13, my stomach has always looked bloated after entering "womanhood." After that, it kept getting bigger, but I could not pinch any fat on it; it was just hard and bloated looking, not a pretty sight. Recently, my body has been storing fat there as I am aging. Honestly, I like the amount of "padding" that's on there now and definitely don't want to lose any weight, but I do not want this bloated looking stomach anymore. Is it possible to strengthen the muscles, building muscle memory to where it would hold all my guts in and not protrude? I don't want to lose fat or have a muscular stomach, just a flatter one. Have you ever heard of this? Suggestions?

  • Was the '99 G20 reliable?

I saw in consumer reports that the g35 is reliable, but my budget is low. So, I found a 5 spd '99 G20 with only 59k miles. Were the G20s reliable, especially with engine, trans, (other expensive repairs)? Thanks.

  • Were Accord trans problems on just auto or 5spd too?

I am looking for a '99 Accord 5spd, specifically because consumer reports shows no trans problems. I'm wondering though if the trans problems that were especially bad on the '00-'02 models were restricted to automatics, or did the manuals have them, too? If it's just automatics, I can broaden my search years, as I'm getting a 5spd. Thanks!

  • 1996 Accord creaking noise with gas/brake/clutch pedal.?

When I release the gas, the car makes a creaking noise that sounds like it's coming from underneath the car on the front driver's side. Occasionally, it will also happen upon hitting the brake or clutch only the first time after releasing the gas. So, it seems to be associated with something with the gas pedal, but this noise is definitely not a squeaky pedal noise. It is coming from outside the car and is loud. If I did not know better, it sounds like the type of noise you would normally hear from a shoddy suspension, but again, it is when releasing the gas. Very weird. The car just had a 120k mi service and passed w flying colors. I just replaced the front left axle. Also, it is originally from WI (yes undercarriage rust). Help.

  • '96 Accord brake related?

Just bought a '96 Accord that was meticulously maintained. Only problem is when braking, there is a bad front end shimmy and grinding type noise during and after braking. FYI it is originally a "cold weather" car from Wisconsin. You think it needs the rotors replaced, or is this a sign of something bad?? Please advise.

  • '95 Volvo 850 Turbo w/115k miles, does the thermostat need replacing?

A couple of weeks ago, I had to replace a return hose, because coolant was leaking out of it. The car didn't overheat at all, because I noticed it right away. After the hose was replaced and new coolant was put in the tank, I started noticing the temperature gauge fluctuate at times, anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4. It doesn't fluctuate erratically, it just goes up 3/4 way then a few minutes later could be only 1/4 way up or so. It used to stay at about the halfway mark before the incident and never did that. I was wondering if this is an indication that the thermostat is bad or I need a new radiator?

  • Honda Odyssey van trans problem.?

My co woker just had a trans rebuilt for $2,300.00 (dealer was going to charge over 4 grand) in an Odyssey with 120k miles, because it would have trouble shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Is this common? I am a huge Honda fan and am always saying how great they are. Lately I have been hearing more about rebuilt engines and transmissions on around 100k mile cars! I used to think it was teenagers burning out their parents' civics and such, but now the van? What's up?
