How long after bankruptcy will I qualify for the best auto loan rate?
It's been 6 yrs. since I filed. Just wondering when I would qualify for the dealerships' 0-2% promos. Do I have to wait til it's been 7yrs., 10yrs., or will I continue to be offered a poor rate even after 10yrs.? Might I have to pay high interest to re establish even if the bankruptcy is off my record and there is nothing negative since it was filed? If that's the case, I don't care if it's been 20 yrs., I will continue to pay cash for older cars, because I won't pay 15-20% interest.
So you're saying even if I wait over 10yrs., I will still be considered to have bad credit and be offered a high rate? I thought after 7-10yrs. you aren't impacted anymore.

The economy is on your side. You have a better chance now than any other time. But your loan would probably be through the car dealership since they are the ones that want to get rid of their merchandise. Try it and see what kind of deals they can give you, play one dealer against another to get the best possible deal.

You will get those 0 to 2% rates when your credit score is above 750! If you read the small print when they run those ads on TV, they always say "for well qualified buyers.." That means, you have to have impeccable credit, which you don't.
You need to re establish your credit after a bankruptcy. Have you gotten any credit cards since it was discharged? That is the only way you can get your score to rebound and start building it again. If you cannot qualify for an unsecured card, you will have to start over with a secured one.
