I am confused about the birth place of lord Buddha because some say it is in India and some say it is Nepal and some people say his birth place is somewhere else.

There was no country called "India" and there was country called "Nepal" at the time when the Buddha was born.

The Buddha was born in a small kingdom called Kapilavastu, where his father was the king, which was situated on both sides of today's Indian-Nepalese border. His actualy birthplace, Lumbini, is today in Nepal. Many people, thus, say he was born in Nepal, even if that wasn't the name of the country at the time.

Many people, on the other hand, say he was born in India, because Kapilavastu was one of many small independent kingdoms and republics together making up the Indian subcontinent. The people of Kapilavastu was part of the Indian cultural sphere, since they were talking Indian languages (Magadhi for everyday use and Vedic Sanskrit for religious use), since they were dominated by Vedic beliefs (the forerunner to modern Hinduism), and so on.

Some people, however, say he was born in India from a completely different reason. They claim that his birthplace Lumbini was actually in today's India, not in today's Nepal, or more exactly near Piprahwa in Uttar Pradesh, just at the Nepalese border and merely 16 km from the "Nepalese Lumbini". This is clearly a minority view.

There are also some other theories about his birthplace, but most scholars agree on the Nepalese theory.

Siddhartha Gautama, the Lord Buddha, was born in 623 B.C. in the famous gardens of Lumbini, which soon became a place of pilgrimage. Among the pilgrims was the Indian emperor Ashoka, who erected one of his commemorative pillars there. The site is now being developed as a Buddhist pilgrimage centre, where the archaeological remains associated with the birth of the Lord Buddha form a central feature.

Its in Lumbini in Nepal... not far from the northern indian borders and the ganges .. that area

its confusing because Nepal used to be part of india but split off to become a separate country some time back...

Technically Buddha was a north indian .. but now hed be a Nepali ...

its just changing borders.. but really his ethnicity or nationality is irrelavent.. its his teachings that are important

You wrote, "after getting enlightenment you become free from life circle. You are not born again on this earth." And then you asked, "Now, the confusing part is, if that (liberation) is what everyone should aim for, then why did we come here in the first place?" Haven't you actually answered this question yourself? After all, if liberation IS the purpose of life then we would need something to liberate ourselves from... You wrote, "Now, I don't think a normal person can answer this question. Only those who have advanced on this subject can attempt to answer or those who have got the enlightenment can answer this." Although I think I provided you with an "enlightened" answer, I must confess, I am just a "normal person." :)

Both India and Nepal (depending on the context), because the borders and national boundaries between these countries have shifted over time.
