Will I look like a bum if I wear sweatpants to MEPS tomorrow? What about my bra? Jewelry?

I knew I was going to have to sit around all day so a few weeks ago I bought sweat pants just for meps. I thought that would be comfortable and I know it's not a fashion show. I thought gym clothes would be really appropriate for a physical. Are sweat pants ok?

Now, I'm worried that I'm going to look like a bum. I would really rather not wear jeans but it sounds like most people are suggesting that.

I read not to wear a lot of jewelry. Is my wedding ring going to be too much? It's not just a plain band.

Bra...I had planned to wear a good sturdy sports bra...but you really don't have a lot of padding with those and I read that it's supposed to be really cold in there and I'm going to be in underwear for most of the time. Is it going to be embarrassing to be in a cold room with a not so padded sports bra on? Do most girls wear sports bras?

I would appreciate some quick responses and serious answers!

Thanks so much for the help!

Update:

Oh ya....What about bring a cheap timex sport watch? Are watches ok? I thought it would be nice to know what time it is.

    Sweatpants are fine.

Any clothing you have cannot be torn, ragged or have holes in them.

Wedding Ring and Engagement ring are also fine.

One earring per ear is the maximum allowed (females).

I would recommend you wear a comfortable bra but not one from Victoria's Secret or Fredrick's. Basically nothing fancy.

DO NOT wear a thong or revealing underwear. Try wearing comfortable panties like cotton briefs.

Also make sure you have something to put your hair up, like a scrunchy.

During your medical examination, the more personal exam is done in private. You have the right to have a female present if you wish (since most doctors are male).

However you will do weird movements like the duck walk with other girls (about five) in only your bra and panties. Thus the basic, comfortable clothing.

I'd also recommend showering that morning and shaving if applicable.

The worst thing about MEPS besides the long, long day is the private exam in the doctor's office. Nothing like bending over infront of a complete stranger and showing him your balloon knot.

    lol I'm not kidding.

    You'll be fine. :D

Your Wedding Ring is fine to wear. Jeans and a T-shirt are just as acceptable, as long as they don't have holes. It really doesn't matter what bra you wear because in the long run, your going to be a room full of girls in nothing but a bra and panties any way. *WEAR PANTIES* Do not wear a thong. Make sure the panties you wear are cotton and cover your behind completely. After they do the initial physical, the Doc is going to have go back into the locker room, take your bar and panties off and get back into the paper robe. Then, she's going to take back in a private room, listen to your heart and lungs, and ask you to lay back and put your legs in stirrups. This is not going to be a full pelvic exam, she is just going to check for hemorrhoids or any other signs that you may not be healthy on the outside of your vagina. While MEPS is not the most formal place in the world, it's also not a place where you want to where sweats either.

I don't think it matters too much what you wear when you go ... one of the guys processing at the same time as me wore ripped up jeans and got admonished by several people for it. I settled on plain black pants and a collared shirt myself, but I don't think you'll have an issue wearing sweats as long as they are in good condition.

They will ask you to remove all your jewelery, any piercings, belts, etc, before you even get into the building. I'm not totally sure if that includes wedding bands since I'm not married, but you might be better off leaving it at home for that single day.

As far as the bra/underwear, two girls wore sports bras when I went. Might be different, but I do know that both thongs and underwear that has *too much* coverage can be an issue. I wore the little boy shorts and they made me change since they apparently have to see your bikini line in whatever you choose to wear. The only part you'll be in your underwear for is the group physical, where they'll ask you to do a series of exercises to make sure you have functionality of everything; then the private physical where they'll go over your medical history and make a quick survey of your girly parts.

Blood test and pee test (it's supervised), eyes, hearing, breathalyzer. And a whole bunch of waiting!!! Good luck!

((oh and as far as being concerned about it being cold, everyone's totally embarassed about being in their underwear, and it's really not a big deal. Nobody's looking. ))

Hmmm weird I been hearing people say a lot that when they went to meps they had to bend over and spread their butt cheeks. I just went at the end of September and I did not have to do that. She did not do a paps smear or check for STD's. She just had us spread our legs and peek (literally she glanced 3 seconds top) to see if we had female genitals and checked for breast cancer lumps with her hand. When I felt violated is when she pulled both nipples. I thank god I did not have to bend over and spread my cheeks.

Definitely where clean under cloths. Everyone will see your goodies. When I was there a girl was on her monthly and did not have a tampon on. When it was time to wait to go back for the individuals exams we were giving white hospital paper gowns to wait in and she was bleeding everywhere. EWWWW. So if it is that time of the month please where a tampon. Also do not matter if you is on your monthly you will still have to pee in front of a woman with the bathroom door open while she is standing there watching you and of course their are females walking in and out the bathroom while your using it and they are going to test you for pregnancy and drugs with your urine..

Anyways good luck and except to be waiting all day long in that awful cold room half naked with a bunch of females. Do not matter if your bra patted or not just make sure no thongs and that your underwear is clean. Unfortunately our eyes was exposed to a 42 year old woman that look like Dave Chapelle character Tyrone Beggins in thongs. This was not a pretty site especially when she was doing the duck walk in front of you. My eyes and three other females are still disfigured from the memory. lol..Good Luck....

As long as they are neat and clean, sweats should not be a problem. You are wise to plan on avoiding a lot of jewelry, and chances are, you will not have to take your wedding ring off while processing.

I can't really give you an answer about your undergarment though.

I hate the sweatpants with stuff written across the bum whether they're fat or skinny, but yeah.. it's false advertising for some of them. It's the same thing when they wear the playboy bunny T-shirts.
