  • Will the mini-pill (no estrogen) help me regulate hormonal imbalances? I have migraine with aura and can only take progesterone only.?

My young GP doctor advised that progesterone only birth control can help me to an extent however, this contradicts what I believe I have been told by an OBGYN in the past as well as some of the things I'm reading online. My understanding is that progesterone is really only going to prevent pregnancy and it often causes irregular periods and acne...and things that would suggest that hormones are not really being well balanced. The symptoms I'm trying to resolve are 1) My expanding symptoms of pre-period insomnia and anxiety 2) Early starts and delayed starts in my period which seem effect my PH causing me yeast infections. 3) And my newest sign of an imbalance which is painful acne of the labia. (I know this is a red flag for STI which I spoke to my doctor about this week and was tested for.)

My sense is that my hormones have steadily become more unbalanced and I need to reign this all in with hormones via birth control. But as I said, I have a contraindication with estrogen. Is the Mini-pill or Nexplanon going to do what I need it to do? Or can I look forward to all of these fun things in my cycles to come? Please briefly qualify your knowledge on the subject.

Also, I have had the arm implant, Nexplanon, in the past ...but I wasn't taking it to fight these progressing symptoms that I'm having now.

  • Is real-estate a certificate program?

I may be separating from the military in the next several months. Presently I have not used a benefit which amounts to $4500 for any certificate program. I find myself in a use or lose situation with this benefit. I have no specific idea in mind but if I don't use it will just be a missed opportunity.

I know a real-estate class lasts about 2 weeks. Is that a certificate program? If So, how much does it cost?

    I knowledgeable insight only, please.

  • What certificate program would you do if you had $4500 toward any certificate?

I find myself in a use or lose situation with this benefit. I have no specific idea in mind but if I don't use it will just be a missed opportunity.

I've considered using it to get certified as a fitness trainer. However, that's only a $1,200 program and you don't get to keep the change so I am not sure if this is the most economical use.

I'm already working full time and going to school full time so whatever the certificate program is it needs to be something I can knock out quickly but something that could prove useful later on. Something that will look good on a resume that will help me get a job.

My future plans are to go back to school for a doctorate in Physical therapy so if we could make it applicable to that somehow that would be awesome.

All ideas are welcome. Thank you.

  • Why haven't they developed a test to determine if you are fit to be a parent? 10 PTS to the winner!?

You have to study and take a test to be able to drive....

You have to go through a pretty rigorous process to adopt a DOG these days...

Why is it that no education is required in order to be solely responsible for a tiny, defenseless human being? The only requirements for eligibility are that you have the working reproductive parts!

I maintain that JUST BECAUSE YOU COULD DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD!

There should be some sort of child rearing associate degree requirement. You should be on birth control until you and your partner have completed the degree...then you have a test! And you must regularly go to the DMV every 2 years to make sure that you are still fit to be parent! There should be a license! And a background check!

    Your thoughts?

  • I'm only 27. Do I need hormone therapy?

Obviously, this is a question for a DR...I just can't get in right now and I want some pointers. here are some things that I'm experiencing. I don't know if these are relavent. I just noticed that In the last 6mnths-1yr I've started to experience a lot of different issues. What do you think?

    I'm 27 yrs old

I'm having Back acne...it's a problem I've never had. Now I'm getting scars.

I'm having bad flares of rosacea. So Inflammed that I'm getting a terrible breakout...that seems to flare up in the weeks before my period. My skin looks it's clearest during my period...then I'm cool for a week...and the break out builds up again. ALWAYS only on the same Single cheek btw. I'm getting scaring.

I've noticed that my period usually lasts 4-5 days. Now it only last 2 days. But it's very heavy. This has been going for months. It's like I'm getting the whole 5 days of work out in 2. Also...during it I get in these fever sweats while I'm sleeping. I wake up drenched.

I really haven't been sleeping well. When I let go and start to dift off...I wake up with my heart racing and I feel scared....for no specific reason. It's like an adrenaline rush.

I have mood swings. Not the crying kind. The angry kind. I'll get really angry out of no where. It passes quickly. But I just feel enraged. It's like I'm on roids. Maybe my projesterone is up?

I really have not changed anything in my routine. It's not like I'm working out excessively or anything. I'm in good shape. I DO not take Birth Control...because it used to make me completely wacko no matter what form or strenght I took. Haven't changed eating. I'm slightly less active then I used to be but I can't believe it would cause such a difference.

What details will be significant to my doctor? What could this mean? Someone told me I could have a blood test to see about my hormone levels because I may need hormone therapy. I'm really worried about playing around with birth control. In the past, I've used the ring, the patch, ortho high, ortho low, also one of those that boasts low hormones (only 2 instead of 3 or something). None of it works. The oral kind makes me so sick...doesnt matter what is is. The patch was making me wake up with leg cramps...and the ring gave me yeast. I hope Birth Control isn't the only recommendation I can get from a doctor.

  • What should I look for in a cosmetology school?

I was hoping someone could tell me what I should be looking for in the curriculum to make sure it's a good school.

Does it matter if I go to a big name school or a community college? The cost of tuition wont matter but I will have to make a longer commute to go to a school like Paul Mitchell. Would the benefits way out in the end?

  • Cosmetology School: Does it make a difference to go to a big name school like Paul Mitchell?

I'm considering going back to school for cosmetology. I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where the cost of tuition will not matter.

Cost won't be an issue but I'll have to make a 40 min commute to go to a big name school. Do you get a better education at a school like Paul Mitchell or Aveda? Does it make a difference in finding a job?

What other differences will there be between a big name cosmetology school and a local community college program?

What are the key things to look for in a cosmetology program?

  • Best cosmeology programs in Sacramento? Solano County area?

I'm considering going back to school to be a hair stylist. I've always been interested in doing it. I've spent most of my adult life pursing "a real job" for the sake of my parents...but I'm ready to do something I would enjoy!

What makes a good cosmetology program? Money for school is NOT an issue so what would be some of the better schools I could attend in my area and what makes their cosmetology programs so great?

If you could give me a run down of the local programs I would really appreciate it! I live in Vacaville but if It's worth it I'm willing to commute to Sac.

  • Most satisfying or fun careers for me? (Salary isn't an issue)?

I like helping people. I'm a good communicator. I'm really good at being persuasive. Most career aptitude tests say I would be good with fields like: customer service, teaching, counseling.

I don't won't to do anything too in depth. For example, instead of a nurse or a psychiatrist, I would rather play a little more in the shallow end. Nothing too heavy if you know what I mean. Nothing to emotionally draining What careers do you think might suite me?

  • Fun jobs requiring 2 YRs of college or less?

What are some jobs that are satisfying or fun and don't require more than 2 years of college or vocational training? Salary isn't so much of an issue. Just an enjoyable career.

What does it take to be a good hair stylist?

  • How do you become successful in cosmetology?

Does it matter if you go to a really expensive program to learn cosmetology?

What makes you successful in this career field?

I know some women who make tons of money renting a booth with clients lining up at the door and others who end up working at a low end hair cut chain in a strip mall. What makes the difference? What does it take to be successful?

  • Will I look like a bum if I wear sweatpants to MEPS tomorrow? What about my bra? Jewelry?

I knew I was going to have to sit around all day so a few weeks ago I bought sweat pants just for meps. I thought that would be comfortable and I know it's not a fashion show. I thought gym clothes would be really appropriate for a physical. Are sweat pants ok?

Now, I'm worried that I'm going to look like a bum. I would really rather not wear jeans but it sounds like most people are suggesting that.

I read not to wear a lot of jewelry. Is my wedding ring going to be too much? It's not just a plain band.

Bra...I had planned to wear a good sturdy sports bra...but you really don't have a lot of padding with those and I read that it's supposed to be really cold in there and I'm going to be in underwear for most of the time. Is it going to be embarrassing to be in a cold room with a not so padded sports bra on? Do most girls wear sports bras?

I would appreciate some quick responses and serious answers!

Thanks so much for the help!

  • AIR FORCE! AFSC 3N0X1 PUBLIC AFFAIRS? Pros and Cons?

YES, I know that it's highly unlikely that this job is available but if you have any information about it humor me! BTW: I made a 91 on the asvab and I have an associate degree.

OK....PUBLIC AFFAIRS- Obviously that's broad. What are the working conditions like? What are the hours like? Do you have to work nights, weekends etc? Is this a stressful job. What about the rate of deployment for this job? Please list any pros and cons that come to mind.

I'm hoping to hear from people who have this job or have a best friend or spouse who does this job.

Please don't send me the links to usmilitaryabout.com or airforce.com. Those sites don't have the information I'm looking for.

I know people with this job exist! I want to hear from you!

    Thanks!

  • Joining the air force. MEPS next week! Public affairs? Paralegal?

Im enlisting in the air force. My asvab score was a 91. Individual scores were 89 Mechanical, 91 Admin, 97 electrical, and 91 general. I have an Associates degree.

I've already looked on about military and airforce.com so posting me those links won't be helpful.

Please only answer if you have personal experience with these career fields or some sort of creditable source. I want some information so I know if these AFSC's are worth putting on my list.

Paralegal- I know this AFSC was previously only available to people who were already in the service but as I understand it they know take a small amount of new enlisters. I think my associate degree may increase my odds at having a shot at this one. Can anyone tell me from experience what this job is like in the air force? Has anyone ever even crossed paths with someone with this AFSC? YES, I already know they probably don't have very many. I basically need the same information here as I asked about for Public affairs. Pros and cons, Shifts, stress, deployment?

    Thank you for your help!

  • Joining the air force. These are the jobs AFSCs that I'm interested in. High asvab score! What do you think?

Im enlisting in the air force. My asvab score was a 91. Individual scores were 89 Mechanical, 91 Admin, 97 electrical, and 91 general. I have an Associates degree. I'm married with no children (yet.)

I really need information from current/prior service members. If you could go back and choose any AFSC what would you pick? I need more to go on then what airforce.com and about.com military has to offer. Please only Answer if you have experience or credible information with these careers.

    Here's what I'm looking for:

I would love to have a job that mostly requires working in the DAY time. I want something that CAN be stationed at many bases. I appreciate that deployment is part of the job and the sacrifice but it would be nice if I didn't get deployed every year. And YES, I know hoping for a medical job without going open gen is useless but hell, let me dream.

Given all that take a look at my list. Do any of these jobs conflict with what I'm looking for? Are any of these jobs more in line with what I'm looking for? Can you think of jobs that would be good for me that I haven't listed? Do you have any information to volunteer about your own AFSC?

(I'm not interested in being a linguist. Or ATC which is my husbands AFSC.

    My List:

    4t031 Medical Lab tech

    1w031 Weather

    6c031 Contracting

    4R031 Diagnostic imaging

    2a732 Non Destructive Inspection

    1n031 Intelligence Applications

2E2x1 Computer Networking and switching systems

    4c031 Mental Health Services

    2n031 Public Affairs

    Thank you for your help!
