Thanksgiving Dinner Menu?
This year I've decided to make a Thanksgiving dinner for just my hubby and I. I realized earlier this week that since we've been together I've never made Thanksgiving dinner for just the 2 of us because we were always invited to at least 3 Thanksgiving dinners. I want this year to be special. We've been through some tough times this year and I think he and I deserve to have a nice and quite Thanksgiving dinner the way we want it. So my question is about the menu. I want to know what you usually have for your Thanksgiving dinner and do you have any recipes for the traditional dishes that might have a slight twist? What does your menu for Thanksgiving usually consist of? I want this to be a very special Thanksgiving so any ideas on how to make it extra special would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I like to cook the big meal even though there is only two of us (and our daughter). Leftovers are good to have and we make different casseroles, soups, etc with it.
We usually have something like this:
Turkey (seasoned the night before)
Green Bean Casserole
Baked Mac and Cheese
Homemade mashed potatoes and Gravy
Pumpkin Pie
...and then other side dishes we rotate from year to year. Maybe a jello salad with fruit and whipped topping or greens. One side of my family cuts out the turkey and does a lot of seafood instead because that is what they like. I also know a family who does all italian dishes. Just make whatever the two of you really like and can enjoy. Some sparkling juice or wine would be a nice touch. And I like to still get out the good place sets, light a couple candles, and decorate with a nice table cloth, cloth napkins, some festive music, etc.
Have fun!

The other answers are great, and I'm hungry! But I just wanted to mention one idea. You don't HAVE to have a turkey dinner unless you both love it. Years ago my aunt finally realized that no one in her family really liked turkey, so she splurges on lobsters, which they DO like. I make Turkey on Thanksgiving, but for Christmas Eve I go into hock and buy a prime rib. What will make the day really special for the two of you is to make a meal of your favorite foods that you might not be able to have often. Whatever you do, Happy Thanksgiving!

Since there is only 2 of you you could do just a turkey breast instead of the whole turkey. Or you could cook a small ham. Potato salad, corn, biscuits or rolls, collards (i'm from the south), sweet potato fluff and stuffing or dressing. Then for dessert we have pumpkin pie, apple pie and pecan pies. Sometimes I do a pineapple cake. Good luck to you!

Always sweet potato crunch, shoepeg jalapeno corn casserole, seven layer salad, mashed red potatoes, dinner rolls fresh cranberry relish, pumpkin pie and a fresh apple pie. We usually have a deep fried turkey.. You can but just buy the breast part now, that would not make a great amount of left overs.. No one usually eats the whole thing anyway. Slice and have turkey sandwiches later. Or inject Cajun seasoning into the turkey and bake as usual. Great for sandwiches!!!
You could also have the biggest juiciest Ribeye steak, baked potatoes Texas to at n salad with dessert or whatever your favorite thing is if you don't want traditional turkey.
I have all these recipe but it will take a whole page to put them on here, you may email me if you need them or have more questions on how to do something.
Lot of people have a bone in ham or chicken n dressing. ALL GOOD!!!
