If a person has non-genital warts would they test positive for HPV?

I know a person who has a wart on their hand and one on their foot and I know that genital warts is an indicator that a person is infected with HPV but I was wondering would those non-genital warts be a sign of HPV infection?

Hand and foot warts are non genital HPV types...yes the person has an HPV infection but not a genital HPV infection. Hand and foot HPV types are not included in the most commonly used HPV test.

An HPV test will not show a positive if you have HPV types that cause hand or feet warts...in fact your HPV may show a negative if you have genital low risk HPV types that show as visible external warts or that can show as abnormal cell changes of the cervix ...the HPV test only screens for 13 high risk HPV types.

The HPV test is for cervical screening only...the HPV test is not a screening for vulva or penis lesions or external warts caused by high and low HPV types.

The HPV test only screens for 13 high risk HPV types found on the cervix.

There is no FDA approved DNA test for the male.
