How to you use the ti83 to find out marble selection probability?
I know how to do it by hand, and I know I need to use nCr to do this, but im lost.
7 Red marbles, 2 Green, 3 Marbles selected (out of the 9). Need to know the probability that 2 of the 3 are green.
How do you do this on a TI-83?

How would you do it by hand? (And without using nCr, the binomial coefficients?)
Would you simply make a list of all 84sets of 3 marbles which could be selected and count how many of them had 2 green? How would you know that your list was complete, including ALL ways to take 9 marbles and CHOOSE 3 of them. (The denominator of your probability). Of course there is only a single way to take the 2 green marbles and CHOOSE 2 of them. How many ways, from the remaining 7 marbles can you CHOOSE 1 of them? And how do you combine these two numbers to get the numerator for your probability? (The Fundamental Theorem of Counting.)
You need to study the binomial coefficients to see how they make these calculation simple, with or without a calculator. The calculator part is fairly trivial: find nCr in the probability menu obtained from the MATH key on the TI83.

a million) there are 2 pink marbles clarification: if a 0.33 of the marbles are blue then meaning there are 4 blue marbles...and if the threat of drawing a pink/blue marble is a nil.5 then meaning there are 6 pink and blue.. subsequently, there are 2 pink marbles 2)odds of choosing a blue chip = 4/12 = a million/3 odds of choosing a pink or white = 8/12 = 2/3 (or u can say a million- a million/3 = 2/3) clarification: there are a finished of 12 marbles (6 pink, 4 blue, 2 white) so finding out on a blue would be 4 over the finished (12) that's a 0.33 and finding out on a pink/white would be something (a million- a million/3) cuz there are no longer the different colors desire it facilitates ;)
