Can I drive a coach or bus without passengers on my Full UK car licence?

Once upon a time you could - now you cannot if it exceeds the weight limits that you can drive. As most buses and coaches weigh in at 10 tonne then you cannot on a B licence category. (B1 means nothing in this context as it is for three wheel cars and similar)

If you were to own a bus as a private vehicle and not use it for fair paying passengers you can drive a bus as long as you do not carry More than 8 people (it does not matter how many seats are in the vehicle)

There is an older legislation that they call grandfather rights,,that's if you were entitled to drive a privately owned bus on your old licence it can be carried over to a new licence,,,if you did not have that entitlement you cannot claim it on you new licence
