well every once and a while i give my rats vegetables. and some other things like lettuce, cucumbers, or carrots. i dont give them like apples or anything because it has sugar in it and they wuld get really hyped up. and im pretty sure a lot of sugar isnt good for them?

Well, I have seen that many rats love corn and sunflower seeds. You could probably make a mix of sunflower seeds, dried beans, kernels of corn, dried wheat or toasted (anything like that will do). Hope it helps!
