ornamental chillies are edible or toxic?
are ornamental chillies edible or toxic ? i bought two ornamental chilli plants today. the chillies are small and in red,yellow,light green(almost white) color and facing upward.
can i use them for cooking ? i heard they will be very hot. but also heard someone saying they are toxic. what is the difference between ordinary chilli and ornamental chilli.

I've read that ALL chillies are edible. The difference is usually in the size and color. Ornamental chilies come in a wide range of colors from brown and purple to red, pink and yellow, even white. There is no reason that I can think of that you could not use them for cooking, just be prepared for the heat. Ornamental chillies tend to be hotter than most of the commonly used peppers.

Ornamental chilies are edible but you would have to actually taste them to find out if the ones you have are good or not. Ornamental chilies are bred to be pretty, not tasty. The ones they sell as food are bred for taste, not beauty.

yes, perfectly safe, though they dont taste as good as the regular edible ones.
