Simplest way to block SKS 10 round box mag. to only 5 rounds?
I have a Chinese SKS 7.62x39mm with the original 10 round box magazine my state doesn't allow hunting with more than a five round magazine I'm looking for the easiest way to temporarily convert the box magazine to only hold five or less rounds ..

I don't know if they are still available or not, but there was a company that made a plastic block just for that purpose. It slid into the mag and was secured with little "wings" that had to be depressed to remove it. They met the requirement for Florida, but you would need to check your states laws concerning such, if you can find any of the blocks.
Shoot straight and stay safe.

Interesting question. I have recently been a little worried about the possibility of a violent civil out break and have been doing a little investigation on what fire arms are good to have for various reasons. I'm not sure what shtf means but, I think an sks is a good reliable powerful rifle, 10 rounds wouldn't make me feel as comfortable as 30 personally but if you know how to use it that would be fine for like a hunting or sniping situation. I think a nice shot gun and a sidearm would be nice too.

I took a screw and Teflon tape and screwed into the bottom of a cheap magazine (the hole was already there) with 5 rounds in it already. In my state the magazine must "Need to be disassembled to change the capacity" It's not that hard.
Your states gun laws should be easy to find.

don't. buy a cheap promag or similar 10 rd detachable magazine and swap that for the fixed 10 rd magazine. the detachable promag or similar polymer magazine you can remove the bottom plate and literally block it using a block in the magazine. a wood block would do just fine. it will go inside the spring (which is rectangular).

Lots of good ideas here. Just be sure it is something you cannot easily remove or install in the field. Othewise a game warden having a bad hair day can give you trouble.
