When you think about tighty whities/briefs on guys, what traits and/or hobbies do u associate them?

When I was talking with a group of guys the other night about random stuff, someone asked what style underwear we each wore. I wear tighty whities made by either Calvin Klein and sometimes Hanes and had no problem sharing that when it came my turn to answer. One guy looked shocked when I said tighty whities and explained I didn't fit the "profile" of a guy who wears tighty whities. Im curious to see if you all think people who wear tighty whitey briefs have certain personality traits and behaviors/actvities associated with them. Please list them so I can see if what you all think is similar to what this group of guys said.

You are looking at it the wrong way. So you wear briefs-- most guys actually do wear briefs, don't buy into the fad of wearing those ugly boxers. Some guys are just jerks and this guy apparently thinks that if you don't follow the current "in" style of underwear, no matter how silly it looks, you must be nerdy or something. Briefs still way outsell boxers, and boxers are actually declining in popularity. Just a passing fad, few people wore them at all until the early 1990's when they got popular with young guys for no apparent reason. Wear your calvins proudly dude, 'cause you know they look better and fit better too.

At first, I was like, "What the **** is he talking about?" Then I see your point.

I think for starters that people associate personalities by attitudes towards people. In other words, as men, is pretty much the norm that boxers are as common and wearing clothes, for example.

I don't think is personality traits or attributes but elaborations and generalizations. Is a judgment, that's all. I wear tighty whities, ain't no secret. heck, I'm thinking of going the next level and upgrade to those high-tech ones, tighty whities high-tech style, at least that's what I call it.

I think is just assumptions, people just assume. But honesty is the best policy cause you find out the truth, even if it don't make sense or yeah.

Tighty whities because of support. I have both, but if I'm working I need the tighty whities because otherwise the business gets in the way with boxers. I've never given this any thought. I just use what is right for the occassion. Another example is there is no way I can bike ride with boxers. No f****n way. It has to be supported.

Unfortunately, this is true. I do have a preconceived notion of what a "tighty-whitey" wearing guy might be like. First of all, uptight and maybe even controlling, but definitely fastidious. This guy wants everything in its proper place. Not laid back. If I had to guess some jobs associated with this I would pick something fairly clinical like an engineer or insurance salesman. In general, the idea is the tighty whitey man is not as fun and carefree as boxer boy. If this bothers you, you could always switch to boxer briefs, which give the same tight hold but just have the appearance of boxers. Good luck!

I do not associate any meaningless labels to any man (young or old) whose preference in underwear is briefs, boxers, boxer-briefs, bikini-briefs, thongs, trunk briefs, jock straps, commando, etc. Personally, I prefer classic style briefs (aka; tighty whities which are full-cut with fly-front) (e.g., Stafford brief from Penney's or Jockey), My sons and my brothers prefer boxers and/or boxer-briefs. The point being, wear what makes you happy.

Guys who wear boxers obviously have something to hide! Guys who wear tighty whities don't!

Sure. The wearer of TWs probably has trouble thinking he's masculine enough - so he wears the TW to cause a bulge to say, "I'm a guy!" Some apparently do a little extra stuffing with a handkerchief or some other cloth item. Also the type that is worried about erection show. God forbid anyone should know I'm healthy and have erections - keep it doubled over, hurting but stiffly folded in two. Boxers are worn by guys who have no problem with their masculinity, seek comfort over style and could care less if the world sees their hardness. They probably have a real drive for freedom. Freedom below the belt, and freedom to express themselves. My preference has always been boxers with no particular style, especially no interior 'cup.' My preference for the other 2&1/2 billion men in the world is for them to wear TWs because that guarantees a 3% less birthrate due to keeping their testicles too close to their body - discouraging healthy sperm. The thought of 3% fewer births worldwide is great. Keep wearing them guys!
