A question for anyone with info on this Smith & Wesson?

I was talking with a friend of mine about what calibers I enjoy shooting (in line of handguns) and he noticed that I did not mention .40sw and I told him why. I asked what kind of 40 cal he had (make and model) and he said Smith and Wesson. He said it had very little recoil but could not tell me the model. He said it was an all polymer gun. I said polymer frame thinking an M&P or Sigma. He said all polymer; frame and slide...everything. I have never heard of an all polymer handgun before besides fiction and hollywood. Does anyone else know a model like this. Pics would be good if you can have one.

Thanks a bunch

Bobbo...

Update:

Thanks everyone...Gray, love the answer...I don't think he knows how much I know and how easy I can answers from other knowledgeable owners. I am going to do one better and ask him to join me for a range session and get a look at this "all" Polymer gun.

Want to mess with him, like he is messing with you? Tell him you posted this question online, and the NSA came knocking on your door to find out who your friend with the TOP SECRET prototype was, that you dissuaded them for now, but he had better get rid if it right now.

I don't think a polymer slide is possible with the technology we have. I know the Five-Seven from FN has a polymer cover on the slide, but the slide is still metal. I guarantee you the barrel isn't polymer, so I think your friend is mistaken. The slide couldn't be polymer either, since there would be contact points with the barrel which would get extremely hot from firing, causing it to melt.

never seen or heard of a polymer slide, sorry. I think you are correct, only in hollywood or x-box. I would think the recoil springs would have to be stout since the slide weighes so little.

Id doesnt really sound feasable, but maybe somebody figured it out...

Personally I think your friend is full of it.

To the best of my knowledge, no commercially made semi-automatic pistol is available with aa polymer slide. I don't think it is feasible.
