Is it uncommon to switch colleges after your freshman year?

I'm hoping to study abroad my freshman year at one college and then study in the U.S. starting sophomore year at another. Is it uncommon to switch like that?

The international arrangement is unusual. You need to check as to which, if any, of your foreign credits are transferable to the specific US college. This issue will be in the discretion of the US college. You will also have to figure out the process of admission to the US college as a transfer student. If all of your foreign credits do not transfer, you may not be classified as a sophomore, although there are few purposes for which such classification is necessary or advantageous, with the exception of being able to live off campus at colleges which require only freshmen to live on campus.
