What does the L mean in the tire size L235? What does LT mean in the tire size LT235?

I'm trying to price some tires for my Dodge Ram Dully 2001 truck. The tire size needed is L235/85R16 but it seems all I can find is LT235/85R16. I'm wondering if there is a difference or if it is the same tire.

I've never seen one that reads just "L". The "LT" stands for light truck. I would assume they mean the same thing. Consult a tire shop and ask them.

LT means lite truck. tires size you need and tire size you can find is probably the same. check your tires for size again. also then check source below.

    hope this helps.
